I have been using DVD shrink 3.2 for some time without issue. I just set up a new computer and tried to backup a DVD. There was no problem opening the disk, and I could analyze it as well. But when I hit 'backup'...DVD shirnk hangs for about 20 seconds, then the program just closes out.
It's more than likely that the DVD has copy protection on it that shrink can't handle. Instead of using shrink to rip the video files to your HDD, try using DVDFab decrypter. DVDFab is updated to keep up with the newer copy protection and will more than likely be able to rip the files to your HDD, it's a whole movie ripper so you'll still need shrink to reauthor if desired and shrink the files to fit on a single layer disk.
Once DVDFab is done, run shrink and choose open files, browse to the VIDEO_TS folder created by DVDFab and choose it. At this point you should be able to use shrink as you normally would.
If shrink gives you a problem with opening the files created by DVDFab, then you'll need to process them thru vobblanker first, then use shrink on the files vobblanker created.
i got the same problem as the first guy has i'll use my DVD Decrypter to add teh files to my computer and then i'll use DVD Shrink to burn the dvd and everything..problem is when i click back up it takes about 20 minutes almost gets to 60% each time before it juss closes like nothing happen..no error...theres nothing wrong with teh burner...like the first time i downloaded it. it worked fine and then after a while it just starts to close on me on its own..if neone has ne idea or had the same problem and was able to fix it...let me know..
I have a Enermax Liberty 620W PSU and 2GB OCZ 3200 DDR memory.
I just tried DVD Shrink on different media, different movie. Same result. It "opens" the disk fine, but just closes out when I go to backup. And it's not random, its constistent.
Any ideas on what I can do [besides use another program, eventhough I will try out DVDfab as suggested].
Ok.
I ran DVDfab on my movie. Tried DVDShrink, no dice. Same problem of it just closing out.
I ran VobBlanker on the files from DVDfab and I got this error after it processed the files.
"There are at lease one multitanke (UNSUPPORTED) Cell. The VTSs containing these cells have been marked as SKIP."
In the titleSet of the movie [in VobBlanker) the cell marked SKIP is VTS_01_*.VOB. I still attempted to backup the files from VobBlanker and DVDshrink did the same thing, just closed out.
I am using a SATA HD and my last one was IDE. Is there a SATA setting I may be missing?
Thanks Johnl, I downloaded the new version of DVDFab and reauthored the DVD. It's currently burning with no problem.
My Q is..that reauthor link is a tad vague. I see under main title there are 2, just like the tutorial you posted, but how do i know which is widescreen and which is not?
