These links work. Here is another that is directly from my website:
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/dvdshrink32setup.zip
When the "Save As" window opens, select your Desktop as the target.
When the download completes, click the "Open" button.
This opens the downloaded folder. Click on "Extract all Files".
Extract the files and when the dvdshrink32setup.exe appears click on it to start the installation.
The .exe has to be in a zipped folder for downloading.

FIRST POST! I have been lurking a while trying to soak it all up. I too find it impossible to get Shrink to download. I tried the above steps to no avail. I get all the way to the extract files and it syas extraction completed. When I try to open it, my screen goes black for a second then comes back on, but not installed on computer. I have tried several links.
HHMMMmmm.I tried turning firewall off, still nothing.

You need to have DirectX 9.0c installed on your PC for Shrink to run so you should check and see.
If you don't know which version you current have installed - do this:
1. Click Start in Windows desktop
2. Click Run
3. Type dxdiag
4. You will now see which version you have installed
5. If you have an older version than 9.0c installed - download the latest DirectX version. Make sure you select the right language version.
You can download it from here:

I have tried everything. I have DirectX 9.0c installed. I went step by step from what fasfrank said to do. I saved it to my desktop. When the download completes I click open and that's when I get a blank screen. Any other suggestions?
Thanks, Jeff

Thanks Fasfrank. I checked into the WinZIP link and it cost money. I checked google and found the download for free. I downloaded WinZIP and have the same problem. It downloads, but wont install. Maybe its in my settings, spyware, virus, etc. I dunno though, cuz I did download Imgburn and vobBlanker.
Dont get me wrong, I have no problem paying for sometjing, I just want to make sure its what I need.

WinXP comes with an extraction utility. When you click on a zipped folder, you should see an "Extract all files" Folder Task open on the left.
The download link that ebega provides is to download the .exe, which appears to be unzipped. That may be the way to go. I don't like that I have to wait 40 seconds for the download to start though. What is going on while I'm waiting?
I'm still wondering if you have WinXP with service pack 2. If you do, did you disable DEP?
Did you try deleting the registry key?
Quote: Delete the registry key in the Windows Registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DVD Shrink\DVD Shrink 3.2
When you next time start DVD Shrink, all the options will be reset. Credit: dvdshrink
You may find out that Shrink has installed but just will not open and run. Deleting the registry key will allow a fresh attempt at a reinstall.

I know I have XP with service pack 2. I did turn DEP off and tried another download. Still cant run Shrink. I clicked on the extract all files, it even says the files have been extracted.
One thing I havent played with over the years is the registry keys. I dont know exactly how to do that, but if you want to walk it thfu with me I'll try it.

So I guess the main problem that all you folks had was not being able to unzip the Shrink .exe? If you downloaded the .exe in an unzipped format it installed and ran correctly?
