New DVD burner not showing on shrink

I have replaced my DVD burner today and everything seemed to be ok.

Tried to back up a disc using shrink and it would not burn direct.

I have one drive in my pc and before I used shrink to analyse/encode, then it would eject the disc and ask for a blank one.

Checked the settings and noticed that the drive is not coming up as an option for the target device.

Any ideas?

try using Daemon Tools, download it so you can create a virtual dvd rom and then use shrink to burn it, what kind os software do you have to burn?

Am using Nero as I was before with the old burner and never any problems. There must be a setting on the burner which needs checking?

do you have dvd decryptor, because if you do ten this is what you can do.1. open dvd decryptor and click mode then iso read, it will take like ten minutes.2 right click on Daemon Tools mount image and then select the iso file you got from dvd decryptor.3 open dvd shink and click open disk and then you r goin to see your iso file which you can burn with Nero or what ever burner you are usin.

i know it's a bit confusing just type back if you need extra help.

When you go to mycomputer, is the drive displayed there (this is just to see if it was recognized by the bios and then by the OS)?

What version of nero are you using (6.6.xx or 7.0.xx)?

Is you new burner registering under "My Computer" and NeroInfoTool? What version of Nero are you using. The newest version of Nero 6 won't burn direct from Shrink any longer, you need 6.6.0.18 in order to continue to do this. If you see your drive under My Computer and NeroInfoTool, you could try to uninstall the drive through Device Manager, then restart, Windows will automatically re-install the drive for you, and then check to see if this cleared up the Shrink problem. You could also try to re-install Shrink. Keep us updated and good luck.

Daemon tools isn't required here, Both DVD decrypter and DVD shrink will create ISO images that can be burned to disk using either nero or DVD decrypter in ISO write mode. Daemon tools, would be necessary if you wanted to mount the ISO image as a virtual drive to expose/get at the VIDEO_TS folder containing the all video files for editing or for doing with what you will.
