What would cause DVD Shrink after ripping DVD that the tray door will not open. A friend of mine called and asked me and I know if you have Shrink and Nero they work together. I have told him to re-Install both and still the tray door will not open to continue. He does not have Roxio or any other program that should be conflicting that I know of. He lives 300 miles from me so. He has Nero 6.6 and DVD Shrink installed and has deleted and re-installed both. I told him to even try using a REG cleaner to delete out all the tiny bits of Nero, etc.?

Do you mean the tray does not open? If that's what you're referring to, why would a program affect that? Regardless of what program is running, if you push the eject button, it should open.
If this is the case, you gotta remove the outer shell of the tower, remove the drive, and then use a pin to force the tray open.

When the movie is ripped with DVD Shrink after it has ripped the tray door will eject and says place a blank media in to continue
with the burn stage. The tray will not eject and allow you to go
on to the part of placing a blank media in. I do not mean the tray door is broke just that the program does not eject the ripped movie
allowing you to go on to next stage. It always has worked in mine that way. ?

Nero and roxio, although not recommended can co-exist on the same system as long as both of their packet writing software aren't installed as well.
You should find out exacly what version of Nero he has, version 6.6.1.4 will not work with Nero (Trying to have shrink autoburn the files to disk with Nero will not work). If he has this version, he needs to revert back to version 6.6.0.18 to get the autoburn function to work again.

He uses DVD Shrink to rip and Shrink to burn as well. Does Shrink work as a stand alone program or do you have to have Nero to make it work. I thought Nero was needed to make Shrink work at all. I use Shrink and have Nero Express and after ripping the tray door ejects and then says insert blank media to continue. It then burns the movie and then ejects again. But on his it does not eject after ripping. I use Shrink to rip and burn.

Shrink can't burn anything. It only removes CSS encryption and compresses the movie to fit.
It can automatically call Nero when the burn is ready to be performed.
The last Nero 6 version, Nero 6.6.1.4, does not respond correctly when Shrink calls on it to begin the burn.
You can read a bit more about that here:

This tray locking problem may be caused by Shrink not being able to open this version of Nero. While it is trying to do so it is running into an error so things get a bit out of sorts, system wise.

DVDshrink is not a burner, it can only rip/decrypt/transcode. Nero, DVD decrypter or what ever your burning software of choice is, are needed to perform the burning process. Once shrink is done doing it's thing, it will then call upon nero or decrypter (depending on how you have shrink set) to automatically burn the video files it created to disk. Nero version 6.6.1.4 will not function with shrink, that's why it's important to know what version he has.
Note: DVDshrink will ony autoburn using nero or DVD decrypter.
Edit: Hey fasfrank, got in ahead of me, too busy watching a new show on the scifi channel.

@abelwho, If you don't want it to eject then set whatever burning program you are using to not eject the disc. There is usually a setting you can check or uncheck.
Hi John, Hehe thats rare that I get one in ahead of you!

abelwho,
Are you making a statement or are you stating a problem?
If you have one drive and are using DVDshrink to rip/decrypt/and transcode, and have it set to autoburn with nero or DVD decrypter then:
Once shrink is done with the DVD it is to make a backup of, it will eject that DVD and prompt you for blank media, it will then automatically run nero or DVD decrypter and have the backup file(s) it created burned to disk, once the burn is complete the tray will eject if you have nero or DVDdecrypter set to do so.
Edit: You did it again, I'm too interested in the movie I'm watching.

Just tell him to revert back to Nero 6.6.0.18 and it won't cost a penny and Shrink will allow the door to open after the rip. Unless you jusy want Nero 7.
