Is nero better/faster to use over shrink?

Yes, Nero Recode2 is faster than Shrink. As to better. I really can't tell the difference between the two. You can see some different screen shots of the different encoders/transcoders here:

recode2 is faster but, at this point, they output the same picture quality. In terms of quality, they are the best transcoders there are.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Both are great programs, SHRINK 3.2 decrypts Nero does not.:P

but most dvds are encrypted, so wouldn't that make recode 2 useless with encoding?

Recode wouldn't be useless at encoding if 1. you ran AnyDVD in the background or 2. the movie was ripped to HDD first with encryptions stripped.

i have used both, i cant tell the difference in quality either, but recode is sometimes 2X as fast as shrink.

Yes, in almost all movies. Some of the newer releases it can't handle. DvdFab Decryptor seems to handle all the newer stuff though.

i thought so, but i still don't feel like using 3 programs to back up my disc.
