@BlivetNC

You should try it in south Louisiana in the Summer. You start sweating when you walk out the door and gets worse when you get in your 130 degree car. We could hardly survive without AC, funny I grew up here with no AC until High school. But it has gotten hot lately. I agree with Creaky, the weather is weird here too. If we are lucky we get a thunder storm around 5PM and it stays cool (85)the rest of the day. We DON'T have winter. Last winter I was still mowing my yard! It never browned up. 1st time ever. First cool front sometime in October by far our nicest month along with March.

@Garmoon, you have my sympathy as well as my prayers, never been to the beautiful state of Miss, but spent time in Miami in the early 80's, that was hot enough for me. I don't know how you all did it last year with all the power outages after the hurricanes.

I live in Ohio, which is supposed to be better than you Southern guys, but you would not know it. Starting tomorrow 90+ temps with heat indexes of over 100. My car read 121 on the inside today and the asphalt reading in my plant's parking lot was 146. Used a laser gun reader to get the info. Plus all the monsoon rains we have been getting up here is wearing thin. Haven't seen this much flooding in the summer ever, usually only in the winter when we get snow melts in the rivers.

@LOCOENG

Ashtabula/Fairport Harbor is were all the flooding happened yesterday. The Grand River really upchucked, boats all over and many evacuated. They are still worried tonight about some more.

We lost power from Katrina for only 5 hrs. only 80 miles from NO but to the northwest. The west side of the storm fell apart as it hit NO. We were fortunate because most of Baton Rouge was without power. My office off for 5 days. We were a refuge oasis for my daughter's friends who had no power. We partied the whole week.

I think Katrina really took its toll on the whole country.

On spring break I went to New Orleans to help clean out some homes. Everybody was very friendly and grateful to me. It really broke my heart to see their living conditions.

On the side of some houses they would write the number of people in the families and the number of people found from that family. I remember one house said, "Family of 5, 1 found." I knelt in front of that house and cried for a while. It still haunts me :(

Let who go???

@pulsar, As Bubba1982 stated "I got a bitch for the day. There is another forum site that was started by a former afterdawn member after he got banned(Many times)...and he has not only ripped off the aD rules(Directly from the forum rules page) but he is trying to get all the members from the game section of the site to leave aD and head over there instead."

Let'em go. The former member and anyone who wants to follow him.

Lord, it pays to be a pack rat. I recently moved to a different apartment; we have heat pumps for air and heat (really crank out some serious cold too) but it died Friday night. Fortunately, I've got this 10000BTU AC on wheels that vents to the window like a dryer. To think I nearly gave it away when I moved! It's not quite strong enough but I'm still comfortable with that and a fan.

It was 92 today and is supposed to go over 100 degrees starting Tuesday because of weather coming in from the midwest ... keep your weather guys, we east coasters don't want it!

Well, I'm bracing for it! It's hard to believe we never had air conditioning when I was a kid; also use to do a lot of cycling, hiking and camping regardless of the heat (or the cold for that matter; use to go camping in the middle of Feb in New England and Quebec). Now I'm just too much of a woos (how does one spell woos??)...hell, how many people do you know who keep a spare air conditioner on wheels just in case something happens to the primary one LOL? Neat little thing; vents to the window like a clothes dryer but you have to emply the water ever three hours or so or it shuts off.

@BlivetNC...I was stationed in NC; heat can get pretty damn harsh. I also lived in Miami for a few years. Altogether different kind of heat over there. Summers are brutal; actually made me sick my first summer....dizzy, like spending too much time in a sauna. I got use to it though. What I miss is taking a dive in the pool before bedtime. In Philly, I'd have to use the fire hydrant.

Yeah.. I miss ireland too. It's not the same without him..
Even though we only came into contact once or twice the site seems strangely empty and cold without him.. There isn't any humour (or that's what it seems) Just everybody at each others throats all the time..
Be safe ireland..come back when you are ready. I think I speak for almost everybody when i say we miss you.

Anyway..my bitch. I think some of the mods have been a little too patient over a certain issue. Week bans for all concerned might have been a better course of action, just to let it cool down.
I don't think the crap will die down just yet so I'm looking forward to a few more giggles and a few more bannings.....Some people just never learn.

My bitch for the day (well last week or so) is the constant flamewars that arise. If you are a member or above (excluding post counters) you should know better than to get into text-boxing matches. Use the frigging report offensive post button and let the mods do their job. Of course not everyone is not always going to agree or get along but it takes 2 to argue. The mods should not have to hide threads daily due to unnecessary comments from those that know better. A simple reported should suffice so others are aware no need to post further unless moved to safety valve for chewing. Geezus folks lets get a grip on reality and remember this is a 'techy' forum and leave the useless ranting for spammers and ignorant noobs (of course lightning will eventually strike :) ).

to burn or not to burn that is the question

@Gerry, Yup, our mate ireland's gone missing!

He was talking about taking a vacation from this site, he said:

"I have been on this site fer four years and has been logged on 12 hours a day, time for a vacation"

I dunno what that means, but what I do know is he will be missed, ireland made this place A LOT more fun, no one can deny that....

Hopefully he won't be too long.

A pix in irelands honor:
