here is another one,ye might have better luck with this one..

ROOT KIT HOOK ANALYZER..........RootKit Hook Analyzer is a security tool which will check if there are any rootkits installed on your computer which hook the kernel system services. Kernel RootKit Hooks are installed modules which intercept the principal system services that all programs and the operating system rely on. If any of these system services are intercepted and modified it means that there is a possibility that the safety of your system is at risk and that spyware, viruses or malware are active .....(free).....GO THERE!
http://www.resplendence.com/hookanalyzer

free,HijackThis v1.99.1

HijackThis is a powerful malware search & destroy program. It scans your computer and creates a logfile for you to examine what to remove. You can save the log as a textfile and use it with online HijackThis logfile analyzers (HijackThis.de) or post it to our forums for others to have a look.

Warning! This program requires some know-how. You could criple your OS if you don't know what you're doing. If you are unsure, try Spybot S&D or instead.

ROOTKIT DETECTION AND REMOVAL..........Detecting the presence of rootkits and the products they are stealthing is not easy. Certainly most anti-virus and anti-spyware scanners can't detect them though a few are just now starting to add features to help with detection. What is needed is a specialist rootkit detector.....(free).....GO THERE!

The Hijack this log as Ireland said has a couple of good people in the Windows Vrus Spyware forum that are great at reading the logs and step by step instruction to decriminalize your computer. Chris I'll be back gotta search for the link.

OMG I have run the RootKit thingo and it says 439 discrepencies found, I have NO idea what to do now.

Also ran a Hijack this prog and have a log file that also does NOT make sense to me.
Where can I submit these logs so that one of our comp experts can have a look for me.

I know this is not the correct forum so any help is appreciated.

I heard Norton Ghost was a little harder to use, and Acronic has the Wizard, plus resource wise Acronis is supposed to use less and also supposed to be faster. Will know when I start the project.

i use both norton ghosts, the latest and ghost 2003 which does the recovery and back up in dos, which i feel does a better job..
as i never had a problem with any back-ups with ghost 2003..
and i did a ton of back ups with ghosts since 2003..

both Acronic and ghost 10 backs up in windows

Acronic is faster and the file size are smaller

I pay way to little attention to security of data and virus prevention...one of these days it's gonna reach up and bite me in the arse. Luckily I don't really do anything important on either PC that I couldn't get back if I lost it. Mostly just internet and backups.

I thought I was safe too, because I run through a router which is supposedly the safest way to go. However, I put in java and after that the trojan spyware came right in through IE. I run on AOL and went to of all places the Digital Digest site, not the forum but the site. And got the trojan malware it comes in through the popup with microsoft on it and when you try to close it then the trojan deposits and starts running a program. It was awful to get rid of.

Oh my guys:) looks like I need to finally get that project together and put more detailed info on the clean pc part :)

All mine are clean - even daughter's (though I'm the one who keeps it that way). Learned the hard way a few years ago.

I rarely frequent the main DD page, I've got the bookmark as my CP so I just sign in and go straight to the forum.

I don't use IE, but AOL does and that is the problem. I have tried and like Firefox but it screws AOL up.

Edit: @LOCO

I don't use the DD main page either but it happened when I first went to dl the RipIt4Me prog. It sent you to that page.
