Tyson admits cocaine addiction in DUI arrest
Michael Ferraresi
The Arizona Republic
Dec. 29, 2006 03:15 PM
Former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson faces a cocaine possession charge, after being pulled over in downtown Scottsdale on suspicion of driving his BMW under the influence.
Tyson, 40, was arrested around 1:45 a.m. Friday after a Buckeye police officer working as part of a holiday DUI task force noticed the boxer's 745i moving erratically near Scottsdale Road and Drinkwater Boulevard.
During field sobriety tests, Tyson told officers he is addicted to cocaine and that he ?uses it any time he can get his hands on it,? according to court records.

Tyson, who lives in Paradise Valley, was booked at Maricopa County's Fourth Avenue Jail and released Friday morning without posting bond. Superior Court commissioner Sheila Madden ordered Tyson to a supervised release, which includes drug and alcohol monitoring, while he awaits a preliminary hearing Jan. 16.
Madden prohibited Tyson from drinking or taking any nonprescription drugs and said he must continue to reside in his Paradise Valley home and cannot leave the state.
As many as three bags of white powder were found in Tyson's back pocket and inside a pack of Marlboros inside his car, according to the arresting officer, Buckeye police Officer Jeff McKnight.
Tyson, who shot to fame by knocking out Trevor Berbick in 1986 to become the youngest heavyweight champion in history at age 20, has had several run-ins with the law over the years, including serving prison time for rape. The most infamous incident was in the ring in 1997 when he bit Evander Holyfield's ear during a fight.

Iraqi TV says Saddam Hussein executed
By CHRISTOPHER TORCHIA and QASSIM ABDUL-ZAHRA, Associated Press Writers 4 minutes ago
BAGHDAD, Iraq -
Saddam Hussein, the shotgun-waving dictator who ruled
Iraq with a remorseless brutality for a quarter-century and was driven from power by a U.S.-led war that left his country in shambles, was taken to the gallows and executed Saturday, Iraqi state-run television reported.
It was a grim end for the 69-year-old leader who had vexed three U.S. presidents. Despite his ouster, Washington, its allies and the new Iraqi leaders remain mired in a fight to quell a stubborn insurgency by Saddam loyalists and a vicious sectarian conflict.
Also hanged were Saddam's half-brother Barzan Ibrahim and Awad Hamed al-Bandar, the former chief justice of the Revolutionary Court.
State-run Iraqiya television news announcer said "criminal Saddam was hanged to death and the execution started with criminal Saddam then Barzan then Awad al-Bandar."
The station earlier was airing national songs after the first announcement and had a tag on the screen that read "with Saddam's execution marks the end of a dark period of Iraq's history."
A U.S. judge on Friday refused to stop Saddam's execution, rejecting a last-minute court challenge.
The execution came 56 days after a court convicted Saddam and sentenced him to death for his role in the killings of 148 Shiite Muslims from a town where assassins tried to kill the dictator in 1982. Iraq's highest court rejected Saddam's appeal Monday and ordered him executed within 30 days.

Was HD DVD Copy Protection Broken?
Posted by l33tdawg on Saturday, December 30, 2006 - 02:19 AM (Reads: 89)
Source: Internet News
Hackers recently posted claims to have broken the Advanced Access Content System (AACS) copy protection on HD DVD. But another programmer is saying not so fast.
The initial claim was posted on Doom9, a site dedicated to DVD copying. A user named 'muslix64' posted some Java code that he claimed would decrypt the AACS protection and allow for video playback.
Not so fast, said Chris Lanier, a Microsoft MVP for Digital Media products. In a blog entry dated the same day as muslix64's posting (December 27), Lanier made two points. The first is that the software will decrypt a specific DVD only if it has the title key, and title keys are encrypted. Muslix64's software didn't have a way to get the title keys. To get the title key, you need to run PowerDVD video playback software from Cyberlink and do a memory dump, as PowerDVD leaves the title key unencrypted while in memory.

I don't think it is fair to say that the death of one of the worlds (previously), biggest, cruelest, and threatening dictators has "nothing to do with politics". However, with people like Robert Mugabe still in power, he was merely a small fish in the ocean, IMO.
Anyway, not to delve deeply into political debate, seeing as that would be against the rules, I'm not going to say anything further on the subject; hopefully you won't either. ;)

Its still getting around the protection (even though its though a memory hole according to the M$ guy) because if it didn't get around it then you couldn't dump and play back the files off your hard drive.
It may not be a complete work around but its a step in the right direction and things like this always start small, remember how DeCSS was simply a few leaked decryption keys? It eventually took off and Slysoft came around creating one of the best decryption programs I have ever witnessed.
So, again, sure its not complete but its a start and proves that AACS isn't "unbreakable" after all.

We've had upwards of 4" of rain since 2:30 am and it's still coming down. At least it' 70 deg. We are having a birthday party tonite for sis-in-law. Bummer! And yes the speed test did not work for me. One time it did say working but nothing happened. They did say the server could only handle 15 at a time. Could be next year before it works. LOL

@ireland...It's been like that in Philly as well. This is just too damned wierd though; the occasional fluke is one thing but its a bit scary to be opening one's windows during the day....week after week in the middle of winter. Ive never seen anything like it; hell, we'll be wearing cut offs and sunscreen to the mummers parade lol!
