Hi: Has anyone had a conflict using "Nero Burning Room 6,6,0,16 and "DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 . I believe that the latest DVD Shrink is 3.2.0.15? If I want to uninstall this program and reinstall with the same program, do I have to uninstall the old prgram first or can I just install the new program over the existing? Thanks Ronnies

Oh yes - we all have had that problem!! It seems this version broke the autoburn connection w/ shrink. So you need to go back a version - 6.6.0.18.
Here's a link for that version and the Nero clean tool:

Hello Binky 7: Thanks for your informative reply. You mentioned that "Nero Burning Room Version 6,6,0,16" has conflicted with "DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 . You mentioned that I had to go BACK to "Nero 6.6.0.18"? Is 6.6.0.18 an older version than 6.6.0.16? Is that a free download? Since I got the "Nero 6.6.0.16" with my "HP DVD740" burner, will the "Nero 6,6,0,18" be compatible with the HP DVD740 burner? Thanks tons ronnies

Hello Binky 7: I am really getting paranoid and humbled with this "Nero" stuff. I managed to download Nero 6.6.0.18.. I currently have the following Nero installed: "Nero Start Smart" which encompasses the following: Nero Digital - 3.1.0.16, Nero OEM 6.6.0.16, Nero Media Player 1.4.0.33 and light scribe 1.4.31.1..
Nero Express serial #1A20-removed.
I read in some of the threads that Someone just installed the Nero 6.6.0.18 right over his current Nero and it worked without "Cleaning out the old version? I am LOST. If I have to clean out the above Nero, do I use the "General clean" or which other? and then do I just install the 6.6.0.18 version. don't understand about using serial numbers? Do I just use the one above in all cases? I am in over my head and need help. Ronnies

@binkie7 mean Nero 6.6.1.4, not 6.6.0.16 there :) :)

ronnies,
Yes, you can simply install one version of nero over another and have it be ok, but I believe it's always best to remove to old version first if that version is acting buggy.

You can remove nero6 completely from your system using the general cleantool found here (write down your serial# for re-entry later):

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/General_CleanTool.html

After the uninstall is complete install nero6 version 6.6.0.18 packages 1 and 2 (in that order). You can get the downloads here:

Package 1
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

Package 2
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Re-enter your serial# and you're good to go.

Hello John123 and Binky7: Thank you both so much for your very lucid input. The only thing that I'm not clear on is the "Serial#" which serial# are you refering to? Is it the one that Moderator "Creaky" deleted in the prior message, That is - the serial # on my current "Nero software"? Please advise ronnies

Hello good people: I have a follow up question. One of the two downloads that you are refering me to is for the "Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt" and the other is for "NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt". Why Do I require both of these to function correctly? This is for my own information, of which I need a lot of..... ronnies

Yes the serial # is probably the one edited. It will also be on the paper sleeve that came with the Nero disc.
With the oem software you received with your burner you may or may not have the "full" version of Nero 6. Some have it some don't. I would go ahead and install both - worst case you won't have these options in package 2. The 2nd package/download gives you Recode and Nero Vision Express.

Thanks Binky7: Just got to get rid of the Nero 6.6.0.16 0 - not too good. I will follow your instructions on uninstalling the Nero 6.6.0.16 and then install both of the download threads. I have been told that by going to add/delete in the "Control panel" and then following up with "ccleaner" will also delete the current "Nero 6.6.0.16" but I will follow your instruction and go thru "General Clean" method. Thanks again for your efforts and putting up with my "too many" questions.. ronnies
P.S. There is no one around here (Baltimore County) that (I know of)knows anything about this Burner and Movie conflict regimen.

I agree with all of the above replies. Just a note to add on here, I don't recommend you using the "auto burn" via DVD Shrink to Nero. I don't know about you or others, but I prefer DVD Shrink send it to my hard drive first, then I'll have Nero Burning Rom to burn my final VIDEO_TS file afterward. However, the choice is yours because we're all entitled to our own judgment and preferences.

I may be wrong, but I've come to conclusion that doing this way (DVD Shrink to hard drive, then manually have either Nero Burning Rom or Nero Express to burn later) is likely to have less issue(s) and more successful burning.

Best of lucks to you!

Yes go thru add and remove programs and uninstall Nero including InCD which will be listed sparately if it was installed. Then run the general clean tool. You can also run CC cleaner if your want.
Then install both packages. Now you should be set!
Now for Balitmore Cnty if we're talkin Md. they are plenty us in surrounding counties that have this hobby:)

Hello Binkie7, Thanks for the info once again. Yes I am talking Baltimore county (Rosedale) in Maryland and really haven't found any knowledgeable or shall I say familiar people in this area with Burning and Movies backups. ronnies

Since I misread your version # (my error) I just assumed your problem was autoburning w/ Nero. Hopefully the problem you were having will be corrected w/ version 6.6.0.18.
Nero is a good program - I, like other members, here have been using it for awhile.
After you do the install of Nero try again and let us know how it turns out - good,bad otherwise!!

I totally agree with you. I even do that when using Nero Recode. I never select the taret my burner, always save to HDD and then open Nero Burning Rom and load the Video_Ts folder. And it works great!

@ronnies
After you update your Nero, if you still have problems burning, save the error log and post it, for someone to look and see what might be the problem . Hopefully will not be necessary!

Hey guys - thanks for all of the info. I haven't done the transition yet, when I do, most assured I will let you know. My main problem using DVD Shrink is the "encode", if I get past that, I'm usually home free. I am using "Plextor model PX-M402U to transition movies from VHS to DVD. I've had problems with error messages AFTER the movies has loaded. When hitting the "Stop" button the error message would appear OR the computer would simply restart? I recently reinstalled the "Plextor" software and it has been fine the last three sessions. The technicians that "Plextor" gives me privy to, are very good and easy to work with - a plus. I have tried to burn the movies that had been downloaded thru "Nero" and have had no luck with that route? I always have to fumble thru the "Plextor" Movie maker.
Seems to be OK now. This has been a real experience with this "burning" and "backup". Throw in "DVDFab" and "DVD Decrypter and I almost had to throw in the towel - If it weren't for you experts to get me through this - I would have been Lonngg gone. Thanks again ronnies

@ronnies, i remember one of your first posts here (vaguely) 'Ron from Round Rock'. you've definitely been thru the mill with Shrink and Decrypter in all that time :)

Creaky: I truly appreciate the fine work that you do as a moderator. It definitely is a stabilizer when you look at all that I throw your way in addition to the myriad of other lost souls with problems. The past two backups that I did with the 6.6.0.16 "Nero" burning software still in place, suddenly worked just fine - no hitches??? This is the reason that I've hesitated on installing 6.6.0.18 etal.
I'm sure this won't last, sooner or later I will have to make the switch to 6.6.0.18. Thanks for your tenacity and fortitude in my "Burner/Movie" problems. Creaky, how do you know all of this stuff? Is there a manual or book on this "Burner" compatibility scenario?
Sincerely ronnies

@ronnies - cheers for the kind words,just doing my bit to keep the forums clean :)

take it from me (and many other regulars), 6.6.0.18 is rock solid (well for me personally the last few versions have all been just as solid); however i only do cd burning and when it comes to dvds i only do 'straight' movie burning; ie moves are ripped/prepared/sorted/etc via DVD Shrnk or DVDFab Decrypter, then all i use is Nero Burning Rom to do a 'dvd-video' compilation. What i'm getting at is i don't use Nerovision or any of the other Nero products but i do read that other ppl who use the other sections of Nero have very good success (apart from ppl always having some kind of issue with Nerovision in probably most versions!); anyway i've used Burning Rom very heavily in the last few versions and it's a star as far as i'm concerned, though Nero is very much overkill for the simple uses i give it, but i've been using it for some years and i have more cd's and dvd's than some record shops to show for it!.

as to knowing all this stuff i don't know huge amounts compared to some ppl, i just pick up what i need to know as i go along; i probably just post a lot :P

Just re-reading over the thread again to see if there's anything we can do to progress your Nero issues..

for Nero 6 it's only really 6.6.1.4 that seems shoddy and well avoided;

anyway to sum up i see you seem to be having trouble with 'VHS to DVD'. for that i assume you are using Nerovision ?; if so we can attack a logfile and hopefully make some progress for you...
