It doesn't entirely mean its fake, some memory sticks just round up the mega bytes to the nearest integer value. so if its 956 mb, they'd say it is a 1 gig stick, its all fine. As long as you bought it from a retail shop, then your ok

Some people claim its real but there not sure them selves, the one who sold me my stick claimed it was real also but I found out it wasn't. Sometimes the seller doesn't even know its a fake but they presume its real, try asking the seller to see the exact amount of space the memory stick has, if he says 1910, it might be real, after you recieve check the guide..

evlspcmk thats who i went through when I bought mine :) They have great customer service. My problem was that customs in china and the us checked package so took 2x longer to get here. But it was 1.91 gigs so i believe its real. The other one I bought was 1.89 dunno if its fake but i know that the stick can have that much info on it :)

If newegg is a leading brand and is a actual professional seller, than they wouldn't sell fakes, but just make sure by following the guide, if it is fake, complain! And get a refund.

i think mine is a real one. i don't have the packaging anymore. But the writing on back of card is engraved into the card, not printed. would this be a sure way to tell if its real or not? also, it slides out of my psp very easily meaning its not thick. the only problem i remember is it wasn't too hard to open the plastic, which you say its really hard to open the real ones. this came from japan and it was the 2gb size. i will have to check the capacity to make sure i guess. what do you guys think?

You can't really tell from the memory stick itself. But if it's from japan, theres a slightly good chance its fake, if you bought it from ebay.

i checked capacity in windows xp and it says its capacity is 1.89 GB. The fake and real ones don't match, so do i have a different fake or what?

1.89 should be fine, I have seen fake ones go as low as 1 gig for a 2 gig stick but I think its real, cause I remember the capacity for a real one as 1.89 and 1.910, but than again, what memory card is yours, does it have the red marks and that or is it just the black and white normal MSPD?
