HI,THIS IS MY FIRST TIME ON THIS FORUM.THIS IS MY PROBLEM.I'M HELPING A FRIEND WITH HIS COMPUTER.HE HAS A DELL DIMENSION DESKTOP WINDOWS XP AND HE HAD INSTALLED DVD SHRINK AND NERO TO BACK UP HIS DVD'S IT WAS WORKING FINE..HIS COMPUTER CRASHED A MONTH AGO AND HE CALLED DELL TO GET IT FIXED.WELL THE COMPUTER IS RUNNING BUT NOW HE CAN'T BURN DVD'S ANYMORE. I WENT TO HIS HOUSE AND CHECKED IT OUT.HE HAS A DVD ROM DRIVE PLUS A DVD BURNER.WHEN YOU INSERT A DVD AND OPEN IT WITH DVD SHRINK THE FIRST STEPS ARE FINE I MEAN YOU CAN ACTUALLY ENCODE THE FILM,BUT THERES A DROP DOWN ARROW WHERE IT SAYS TARGET DEVICE AND HIS DVD BURNER WON'T SHOW.ONLY HARD DISK FOLDER AND ISO FILE FOLDER. SO I BACKED IT UP ON BOTH ,THE HARD DISK FOLDER AND ON ISO MODE.AND IT DOES BACK UP.LATER WHEN I LOOK UP THE DVD IN THE FOLDER IT WON'T PLAY AT ALL,SO I MANUALLY SEND IT TO RECORD NOW SOFTWARE HE HAS TO BURN THE DVD,BUT WHEN IT'S DONE , THE DVD WON'T WORK.WHEN YOU HIT PLAY ON THE DVD,IT ONLY SHOWS THE FILE WERE VIDEO AND AUDIO ARE,THAT'S IT.I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S DVD SHRINK NOT WORKING RIGHT? EVEN THOUGH I ERASED THE VERSION HE HAD AND I INSTALLED MY VERSION ON HIS COMPUTER OR CAN IT BE HIS DVD BURNER NOT WORKING? HE TELLS ME IT USED TO WORK PERFECTLY WITH NERO BEFORE ALL THIS HAPPENED.I'VE TRIED ALMOST EVERYTHING I KNOW BUT I CAN'T MAKE IT WORK.AND YOU CAN WATCH A MOVIE ON THE DVD BURNER SO I'M BAFFLED AS TO WHAT IS GOING ON.EVEN THE DELL TECHNICIAN HAD US INSTALL THE DVD BURNER CD TO SEE IF IT NEEDED TO UPDATE DRIVERS,BUT NO SUCH LUCK.PLEASE HELP,THANKS

Whoa let's watch those caps - shall we. (+ against forum rules) It's like you're shouting.
Sounds like Nero did not get reinstalled otherwise the burner would be shown as an option to burn. Check and make sure Nero is on the PC. Also check under edit>preferences in shrink and make sure burn w/ Nero is checked.
You could then burn the iso file or the video_ts folder thru Nero Burning Rom. It sounds like you may have picked the wrong burn option in Record Now. Which one was picked?

Wow, not to be mean or anything, but very few people will [want to] help until you read the forum rules concerning caps etc.

I'm sorry if writing without caps offended you,this is my first time and I didn't realize that was so important.Well the computer has Nero express and it's checked off on the DVD Shrink options.As far as sonic record now is concerned I didn't look into that.Thanks and again sorry for putting the caps on.

See if you can burn the video_ts or iso w/ Nero burning rom. Which version of Nero do you have?

My friend has the latest Nero express software.I don't know which version.Mine is an older version I think 6.0 and it works fine with me, thanks
