Just did Dick & Jane with DVD Fab and DVD Shrink - absolutely no probs! If only I could get Chicken Little done!

I continue to refrain from using AnyDVD until nothing else works as the trial is only valid for 21 days... after that, the addict in me will have to pay up!

Cheers

What's up guys? Let me put my 2 cents in. I had the same trouble as everyone else. I use AnyDVD 5.9.5.3, dvdshrink, Nero recode dvd decryptor vobblanker dvdfab everything. I got it though. ripped with dvdfab. opened the ripped file and removed everything associated with vts7 then processed with vobblanker and then dvdshrink. seems like a lot but thats what I had to do.

@20inchceo

Why did you not just use the ripper that is now incorporated into AnyDVD you would not need to do the rest. AnyDVD ripper will remove any of the bad/blank cells just as VobBlanker/FixVTS. Right click on the redfox in the tray rip to HDD and then process, or just use AnyDVD with Clone.

First to Alkohol, sorry but dvdfab doesn't cut it. Like every other program I used it kept leaving out the first 4 vts files.
@lucas324

It's weird and ironic that you're having issue(s) with DVDFAB Decrypter. I, on the other, have no problem/issue(s) ripping any new released (dvds/movies) with the latest from DVDFAB Decrypter (one of the best FREE ripper) whatsoever. I've been using DVDFAB Decrypter since the deceased of the once greatest "king of ripper" aka DVD Decrypter and I've never experienced any issues at all.

So far, Fengtao, the main author behind DVDFAB Decrypter, DVDIdle Pro, DVDFAB Express (Platinum) and DVD Region + FREE CSS has done such an outstanding job providing us with his FREE tool (DVDFAB Decrypter). Although it (DVDFAB Decrypter) may not have that much "updates" as other cracking engines, but it is still one of the greatest FREE ripper at the moment, in my humble opinion.

Like I said, all I ever needed is DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker and the rest is history. VobBlanker is for "security" purpose only and or to remove/fix/correct those "invalid structural, fake pgc, invalid data navigation, etc." and it (VobBlanker) has never let me down -- meaning it's "processing" and "filtering" those craps flawlessly. However, in the end, the choice is yours - because we're entitled to our judgmenet and preferences. In contrast, use whatever you're more experienced with and preferred.

Honestly, I don't know about you and others, but I can say that it's best to TURN OFF AnyDVD, DVD43 or other cracking engines while "ripping" the movie (any movies) when using DVDFAB Decrypter and while "processing" the already ripped "VIDEO_TS.IFO" file through VobBlanker. Fact is.... DVDFAB Decrypter is already a ripper, therefore, you don't need to run/have 2 rippers running at the same time or else they'll definitely conflict one another. Thus, it is likely to give you some errors in results.

If you're going with AnyDVD or have other cracking engines installed on your system, then I "don't recommend" ripping with DVDFAB Decrypter. Again, the choice is yours.

Cheers to all and happy burning!

@arniebear

I did. Didn't work for me. Only thing that worked for me were the steps I described in my post.

Just my 2 cents here, but I followed alkohol's instructions and today made successful backups of Fun with Dick and Jane, Capote and Bewitched (all Sony releases) with no problems. I also did Narnia and Chicken Little and was good on the first try.

Thanks, alkohol, I'm sold (and at least not now, having to pay for my backups).

@waynekusa

You're welcome, glad I could help.

I strongly recommend you to use "DVDFAB Decrypter (try to get the latest version) + VobBlanker" and I GUARANTEE YOU 100% that you will be amazed and successfully ripped and backup any dvds/movies (even new released) flawlessly.

Yes, I've been using DVDFAB Decrypter (FREE) + VobBlanker (FREE) for more than 6 months and I have never experienced/encountered any issue(s) whatsoever. So far, both DVDFAB Decrypter and VobBlanker has never let me down. Not to mention just "Fun with Dick & Jane", but any new released, and of course even those hard-core RipGuard and ARccOS can be flushed by VobBlanker easily.

Best of lucks to all and happy burning!

Again, here's for those that needed helps or interested, simply use this "mini guide" for any of your future new released dvds/movies.

(1) rip the movie(any movies) "with the latest" from DVDFAB Decrypter into your hard drive, wait until it's successfully completed (this usually takes like 12 - 15 minutes only).

(2) open up VobBlanker and follow the below steps:

(A) INPUT = load your already ripped VIDEO_TS.IFO from hard drive
(B) OUTPUT = make a new VIDEO_TS folder in your hard drive or if you have 2 hard drives, then set the new OUTPUT into a different destination aka hard drive (this will process faster like 5 minutes only)
(C) click "PROC.ALL" at the RIGHT
(D) click "PROCESS" at the bottom

That's it... easy as sippin' on some Bacardi 151. Now just sit tight and wait until VobBlanker is completed, then load/import your newly created VIDEO_TS file/folder that VobBlanker created into DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 or DVD-RB Pro + CCE and perform your usual "transcoding/encoding" process. And of course, the rest is history.

And now enjoy your backup to the fullest.

@Alkohol,

I didn't say I had issues with FabDecrypter. The question here was step by step way of burning Fun with Dick and Jane. I backed up a lot of movies with your advise and I thank you. But while you were FabDecrptin and vobblanking, I just put it in shrink and hit backup. Now call me crazy, but I think the way I explained it was simpler and easier.

I tried your way. Couldn't get it to work for me dude. I followed your instructions to the T. The only success I have had with this dumb movie is outlined in my earlier post.

@20inchceo

You're welcome, glad I could help. A lot of Newbies have followed my "instructions or guide", some were able to successfully ripped and backup without any issues whatsoever, yet very few are having troubles. I have come to conclusion that it's either:

(1) they have forgot/missed a step (didn't read/followed the guide precisely).
(2) have other cracking engines (i.e. AnyDVD, DVD43 or others) running in the background while "ripping" the dvd (movie) with DVDFAB Decrypter into the hard drive.
(3) have other cracking engines (i.e. AnyDVD, DVD43 or others) running in the background when "processing" the already ripped "VIDEO_TS.IFO" through VobBlanker.

NOTE: Extremely important here; the 3 above will cause/trigger some errors, and so my advise to you or others that want to go the FREE ROUTE "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker" is to TURN OFF AnyDVD, DVD43 or other cracking engines. Fact is... DVDFAB Decrypter is already one of the "greatest" FREE ripper at the moment, in my humble opinion.

To be honest, I've never used AnyDVD, I only used and still use FREE tool. That being said, all I ever used is/are DVDFAB Decrypter and VobBlanker, and the rest is history. The only tools I owned that it's "not" free is/are DVD-RB Pro + CCE and Nero Premium.

Again, use my little/basic guide for any of your future dvd (even new released) and you'll be a happy camper. Make sure to check with www.dvdidle.com for the latest version from DVDFAB Decrypter and that should be able to rip the movie into the hard drive. Afterward, just "post process" the VIDEO_TS.IFO through VobBlanker and you'll be free of misery, regardless of what protections (RipGuard or ARccOS).

Best of lucks to all and happy burning!

Tellboy66 was right. I tried this with every program I had and it didn't work. I was running Any DVD in the background but it was still failing. Then I realized I didn't have the latest version. Once I downloaded that it worked fine. I tried it with both Shrink and Clone DVD and both worked. Thanks!

Wassup all I at once had that error message when i wanted to make a copy of "Fun with Dick and Jane" I read through some of the post to get some ideas and came up with a solution thats easier than all i have read so far.

**DA Problem:**

I entered fun with dick and jane into my computer for DVD Shrink and it didnt work ... i couldnt even get to the part where i could back it up or anything!

**Da Solution:**

Its this easy... download the newest Nero demo, DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, and Any DVD. Once you have the any dvd running in the background open the dvd dycrypter, and select mode at the top of the screen and keep it in file mode. Next hit the icon thats a cd and has an arrow pointing at a harddrive... and it will start decrtping.... Once that is finished open up DVD Shrink and go to the option that says open files at the top of the screen... find the folder (with the files) you just decrypted and open them up... when its finished just press back up.... it will encode and once its finish itll ask you to put in a blank dvd to burn it ( Nero demo must be installed)

If there is any problems hit me up and i'll be glad to help you my email adress is bayo007@yahoo.com

Try googling the new version for FAB. It's normally on several different sites for download. I'd uninstall the current version AnyDVD, reboot, Reinstall, Reboot. Give it a try again.

I've had no luck with Dick and Jane yet, and tried everything on this forum. There is a spot on the disc, so that could be the problem. Always gets hung up on section VTS 6. Does anyone else have that prob?

If you are using the latest version AnyDVD 5.9.3, after you load your flick; right click on the fox in the bottom right hand corner and select rip with AnyDVD. Click the checkbox "Fix damaged vob's" (or something to that effect) and you will have your ripped dvd.
