hi, i've been using shring, decrypter and clone for years and have never come across this before. a friend got a new laptop with a 16x +/- dl drive. i installed decrypter, shrink and anydvd for him and we tried a dl disc all, worked perfectly. a few days later we go to do another and every time it freezes and crashes the computer at 53% with 15 minutes to go. i tried the same disc on 2 other machines and the same combo has no problems. does anyone Know what might cause it or how to solve it?
1) Heat issue: Using DVD Shrink, your processor will be maxxed out.Creating heat.
2) Registry errors/spyware/malware/software conflict: Leaving AnyDVD turned on all the time has cause a few peeps to have issues. I leave mine off, until the need arrises like Narnia that just come out this week.
3) Powersupply: Make sure you got enough juice. Again,DVD Shrink will max that processor. Not sure about clone dvd.
I'm not sure of how you are trying to backup that dl disc.
I'm guessing you are only using Dual layer media in that laptop. If not, post back. If so:
All you need for DL backups is DVD Decrypter, and maybe AnyDVD running in the background on those newer encryptions.
Decrypter uses less processor and you're doing a 1:1 copy onto dl media. It's also quicker and easier:
Insert disc to rip/Open up dvd decrypter/Mode ISO read to harddrive.Remember where those files go.Click the disc/hd icon.
Doesn't take long to get the files onto your harddrive. Remove original disc/insert blank dl disc/Mode/ISO write: Click on the small folder on the top left/locate those folders from your harddrive/click the MDS file-not the ISO/open that mds folder/set burn speed/and click disc/harddrive icon.
thnks for the reply, we're trying to shink it, its just for dvds for his kids so that they don't ruin them and dl discs cost too much compared to 12p, i know its no the power supply, as for mal/spyware it happend before the laptop even had an internet connection and the files were scanned before they were installed. how could i check software conflict and reg errors? i used the run msconfig comand to turn off a lot of the unwanted crap. for inf its a centrino mobile 1.7 with 512 ram and has had no other extra external software installed since the first successful rip and now the same title won't work. cheers
OK, sounds like you're compressing a DVD-9 onto a DVD-5 blank.
Entire disc or Main movie only?
Quality enhancements like Adaptive error compensation and deep analysis used?
Quote: 53% with 15 minutes to go.
Is this during the analyzing/encoding/or burning?
Quote:now the same title won't work.
What's the name of that title? Some of the newer releases can be screwy.Let you do them one minute, and errors the next.
If you already had a successful backup before, can you re-rip that first backup copy, instead of the original again. It's already has no encryption and sized down to DVD-5. DVD Decrypter in mode iso read and write should do the trick.
I use registry mechanic to keep my registry clean. It's not free. I also use ccleaner and Spybot, but don't do a lot of surfing on the web.
53% is during the encode process, the disc is a uk copy of kong but were more concerned as to why it wont work, it wont do any 9 to 5 now, the set up hasn't changed the options are remove macro, disable puop, split VOB, remove layer break and enable overlapped io
King Kong is over 3 hrs long. Region1 with main movie only was still a 45% compression. That is major compression. My processor was maxxed out for over 2 hrs for the Max smoothness/and deep analysis.
just ripping straight with shrink, only use decrypter dvd 5, removed the audio streams for some of the language and because of the frame rate diff in PAL kong is slightly under 3 hrs so scomp was 54%. tried using decrypt to burn an image and that gets to 99% then freezes as well
