Has anyone had any success copying Fun with Dick and Jane using FabDecrypter/VOB Blanker/DVD Shrink? I have had no success running it through VOB Blanker. I am not getting the main movie.

What ever combination you use, you will need AnyDVD. Hey I was like many and reluctantly began using this software but it's an outright must with these newer encryptions evolving and improving to better protect the movie studios investment. For which I cannot blame them. But like me, and like you who are people who have found a past time in backing up our own personal copies of our films, really it has come to this, AnyDVD or bust! It's enough that there are other factors as well as programs needed to succesfully accomplish backing up a given movie.
Why make this task increasingly hard on your self? With newly added features like AnyDVD's Ripper and being able to alter the play mode i.e. being to start/play your back up copy from start without having to view menus. You'll get instant updates and no more searching torrent sites for patches (cracks). Yeah keep your freeware you and I need them., SHRINK, VOB Blanker, Nero (free with the purchase of many new burners)are necessities and make your work-A-rounds possible. But at the core of getting the job done you need AnyDVD, I'm not sellin ya, I'm tellin ya.:P You won't be sorry.:P

I did that one on my backup pc using dvd shrink and nero only. This pc doesn't have anydvd or dvd43 on it.
Reauthored for main movie only because my original has 2 main movies: wide screen and full screen version. I opt for the Full screen. Top main movie is wide screen.
Very small size after reauthoring. Only took 20 mins total time.

I'm sure AnyDVD will handle it. If you cannot rip it, just download the trial version of AnyDVD.
Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

For what its worth, the combo that worked for me was AnyDVD and Clonedvd2.
FYI: region 1, left out the wide screen version and got 100% compression, or for those reverse people no compression needed.

My fault. These 3 programs together worked fine. I was accidentally using an older file that was decrypted then sent directly to DVD Shrink. It did not work this way. When I ran it through FabDecrypter/VOB Blanker/DVD Shrink it worked fine. I have copied it multiple times now. This method also worked for me on Hostel, which will be coming out next week. I did this without using AnyDVD. My free trial for that program ran out many months ago. I perfer doing it with cheaper software, although it takes longer.

I used DVD Shrink w/Nero, and had AnyDVD running in the background, and had no problems. According to saugmon, I didn't need the AnyDVD, but it's running constantly anyway, upon bootup.

I just finished a successful backup of Fun With Dick and Jane. I used:
Dvdfab Decryppter - Newest Update April 5, 2006
Clone Dvd for Compression
Clone Dvd to Burn.
Perfect copy, clean and error free.

I was able to successfully copy Dick and Jane yesterday using Dvd Fab Express (free), Shrink, and burn with DVD Decrypter. Everything was fine.

Some of you folks must have more time on your hands than anything else. I like simplicity. DVD Shrink with AnyDVD, main movie only, finished disc in about 13 min with an 8x disc. And Pancho, you must not have burned many disc because there are new movies out that only AnyDVD will get through. I'm not a salesman, It's just a fact. DVD Decrypter and Shrink are not updated anymore.

actually those sony movies that you were refering to were no problem to copy. oh, by the way, i have over 4oo movies burned and ive NEVER met a movie i couldnt burn with freeware ive also got every big named movie that has come out in the last 3 years. AnyDVD is a waste of money. i do understand that it saves you time ( not much more) but ive got plenty of that.

This movie can be successfully backed up using the FabDecrypter/VOB Blanker/DVD Shrink combination.
Make sure you've got the current versions of DVDFab and vobblanker, if not, get them here:
DVDFab;
http://209.172.35.173/download/DVDFabDecrypter29.exe
vobblanker;
http://members.aol.com/posunplugged/jsoto/VobBlanker_2100_exe.zip
What to do:
-Rip your movie with the latest version of DVDFAB Decrypter to your hard drive, wait until it's successfully completed.
-Run Vobblanker and follow the below steps:
-For INPUT File-->load your already ripped VIDEO_TS.IFO file created by DVDFab.
-For OUTPUT Location-->create a new folder on your desktop and give it the name of the movie, create another folder within that one and name it VIDEO_TS, in the VIDEO_TS folder you will direct vobblanker to put the files it will create.
ie. c:\Documents and Settings\your xp account name\desktop\Fun with Dick and Jane\VIDEO_TS\
-Click the "PROC.ALL" button at the RIGHT of the window.
-Click the "PROCESS" button at the bottom of the window.
Wait until done, then open those files with shrink.

Used the automated PGCedit PSL plugin for Decrypter on this without any hassle. Since this is a tiny movie, I decided to let vobblanker clean out the crap and remove the FS version so that it would fit onto a single disc. Result was a perfect copy, no compression required.

You performed a miracle! Most of us have to use a burning program too. Neither of those you mentioned, burns dvds........ :o)

That's a matter of opinion! I, and a LOT of others here, thinks it the best money we've spent in a long time! Just read around this site a bit, and you'll see what most people thinks of AnyDVD. :o)

Hi everybody,
I read almost everything that I could find about burning "Fun with Dick and Jane" and still can't burn it. I used DvdFab Decrypter to burn it on hard drive. But when I checked the .VOB files, I could not even find the main movie. OK, ... I tried to burn whatever I got after VOB Blanker through DVD Shrink 3.2, and he result was the same: I just burned trailers and the last 5-7 minutes of movie. How is that possible? I did not have such problem before, ... and it seems like nobody mentioned this problem here.
Thanks

gvrz9,
If you have the new version of DVDFAB Dec then you should not have a problem.
Make a folder on your desktop and call it "Rip Movies"
Make another folder on the Desktop and call it "Vob'd Movie"
Rip the DVD to that folder named "Rip Movie"
Open VobBlanker
Input= Click the Video_TS file in the "Rip Movie" folder on the desktop
Output= "Vob'd Movie" Folder on the desktop
On the right hand side is "Proc All". Click this
Click the "Process" button at the bottom
Go get a Coke and wait. Should take 5-6 minutes

Hey Car.Mike,
I did it, but when I use VOB Blanker I got this weird message that
"VTS 03: Detected 16 cells with pointers mismatch between VTS_C_ADT and PGC_PBK tables
..........
................
and same message for VTS 6, 7, and 10. That's why I'm missing the whole movie. Did I do something wrong?
By the way, I thought that after using DVDFab Decrypter, I can open these .VOB files. :( Nope. Not with this movie. I just have blank .VOB files. And when I open them, I just have a black screen.

although i prefer Recode2, i backed up this one with clonedvd2 because it is the only program with which i was able to take out one of the two: the full screen or the wide one. once you shoose one of the two, there is not compression to apply. if you leave both, the compression level is about 61%. that's one of the reasons i keep clonedvd2 around.
Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

gvrz9,
If you processed the files through VobBlanker it should remove the bad files unless you changed something w/in VobBlanker. If there is a blank area you can manually remove that in VobBlanker if you want to. But if the DVD is now compliant IMO that is a waste of time as if the DVD works properly then you are OK. Does the burned DVD work properly?
