I have been using dvd shrink to put movie on to blank disc and have had no problems. However the last couple of times has taken me approx 2.5 hrs to encode them and each movie time is way different. i was reading one of the forums and checked my dma settings all ok. Uninstalled dvd burner and reinstalled. i am still to try if this worked. But... what is the differece with shrink and decryptor what is easier and quickest. Oh one more if i wanted to put file to hdd, then do i use iso image file, or to hdd.
Any help would be appreciated. Must get some q's that are easy and annouying i know.

Yep, that's way too long. Make sure you don't have some program running in the background sucking up your PC's resources. also make sure you have been doing your regular computer maintenance, Defrag, Virus Scan, etc.

If you have WinXP you can try a system restore, back to when things worked correctly.

For me Decrypter is about as easy as it gets but because I still need to compress to fit on to a DVD-5 I end up using Shrink. I burn the movie only and find Shrink to be faster because I only burn the main movie title.
I think if the size of the DVD were the same would take roughly the same amount of time. My ripping speed is governed mainly by my DVD-ROM.

For putting the movie on your HDD it sort of depends on what program you are going to use after. Other than that I don't think it makes much difference. I use files mostly, because I burn with Nero and am just used to doing it that way. ISOs work just as well though, especially if you use an ISO burning program like CopyToDVD or ImgBurn.

also you may try uninstalling and reinstalling the programs make sure you do a CLEAN reinstall meaning cleaning out you PC before reinstalling

Thanks for the help, i managed to put iso file to hdd, then copy with Nero, and it worked great. I will try full install and clean my system. I will let you know the outcome.
