Lately I have noticed shrink being slow even if i'm shrinking the movie from my hd. I was wondering if there was a alternative/better tool(s) than shrink to use. If so where can I get them and are they free? I currently use dvd fab decryter and sometimes vob blanker. The shrinking part is what I need help with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

p.s. I appologize if this is a repost

my pc is p4 2.4 1gb ram and is a couple years old. b4 i had a licensed copy of windows installed shrink would take about 20-30 min depending on the movie. it now seems to take anywhere from 40-60min if i shrink from the dvd. if i rip to the hd first the time is about the same.

is there a faster tool than shrink that works as well? if so is it free and where can i get it or do i have 2 buy something.

I would like to eliminate the extra step of ripping to the hd first if i can, but if not then i'll have to find an alternate solution.

thanks again for the help

@AngelEyz

In Shrink when you press the backup button you are given options: click on quality settings and see if you have checked; the deep analysis option, if that option is checked it could take 40 mins or more for a large 8.5GB movie. You get a better product. If you want fast uncheck it. But remember faster is not always better. And that's assuming it's already checked accidently which increased you recodeing time. Nero Recode does the same thing but a litttle faster.

Nero Recode is not free. It's part of Nero Ultra Suite 6.6 or newer version 7.0.

If you want simplicity download from slysoft.com 2 programs. One is a driver that removes copy protection and is called AnyDVD the other is CloneDVD. They are free complete program downloads that you may use for 21 days after that you have to buy a key for both. Each is $39. discount for the pair. Also if buying type afterdawn in coupon area for more rebate. AnyDVD works with all programs and is worth the cost. I don't use clone DVD but it is an excellent product also. Good luck with you burning and welcome to AD.

I agree with garmoon that CloneDVD is a simple to use program. CloneDVD would eliminate the need to rip to harddrive first. Like garmoon said they both have a free 21 day trial. Here is an excellent guide to use them.

Also I believe Nero Recode is basically a faster version of DVD Shrink, being developed by the person who originally wrote DVD Shrink. I used to use Recode in conjunction with DVD Decrypter. I found it to be an excellent program. Welcome to AD. Happy burning.

If I can learn here so can you.
