Hello All,

I am having problems with my dvd shrink. I am currently trying to copy "Shop girl." It was giving me an error midway through encoding. I then downloaded this smiley face program called DVD43 which is to take away all the additional protection. So long story short, I can now get the movie to encode all the way through. However, when it comes to burning the movie through nero I encounter an error. I tried to uninstall nero, and reinstall it again, and I am still getting the error. So i think my problem is with Nero. Does anybody have any solutions? I have also read up on these forums about using the decrypter, and I couldnt figure this out as well. I also looked into my disc drive to see if this was the problem, but it checked out fine.

Does anybody have a solution for me? I really appreciate your time.

I take it "FreeWare" is what you prefer. Try Vob Blanker 2.0.1.1 in "auto" mode which will back up the movies contents to file then with your DVD43 running in the backround, burn the files contents to disc using NERO Recode2. Oh? Have you tried using NERO Recode2 without SHRINK but DVD43 running in the backround? DVD43 was all I use to use with NERO Recode2 and sometimes SHRINK before I switched to AnyDVD.:p

Yeah, I have only used freeware. I am very hesitant about purchasing products, not knowing whether or not they will work!

Heres a question. When you back up the disc using VOB Blanker 2.0.1.1, where do I find the files to transfer to Nero recode2? I will have to download the recode2 program.

First, uninstall or disable DVD43, you don't need it. Follow this method to successfully backup any DVD for free.

DVD Shrink can't handle the copy protection on this DVD, so a little help.

Here's how to get it done For FREE:
**************************
Download and install DVDFab decrypter (make sure it's the latest version), use DVDFab to rip the video files to your HDD.

Get it here;
http://209.172.35.173/download/DVDFabDecrypter29.exe

Here's a guide on use if needed;
http://www.dvdshrink.info/dvdfab_decrypter.php

Once DVDFab decrypter is done, you'll have a VIDEO_TS folder on your hard drive containing the files it ripped. These files will need to be processed thru vobblanker to remove fake cells and correct file structure so shrink can open the files and process them correctly.

Get vobblanker here;
http://members.aol.com/posunplugged/jsoto/VobBlanker_2100_exe.zip

Unzip the file and run the executable, it will look a bit like this:

For input folder selection:
browse to where the VIDEO_TS folder created by DVDFab decrypter is located, inside the folder, look for the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and choose it.

The path might look something like this:
c:\Movie folder\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO

Note: When importing the VIDEO_TS.IFO file, if you notice that vobblanker has marked a video title set (VTS) in the top half as skipped, click on the Proc.All button on the right to ensure all video title sets are processed.

For output folder selection:
create a new folder on your desktop and call it "MOVIE", inside that folder create a new folder and call it "VIDEO_TS "(this is where you'll have vobblanker put the output files it will create)

Once the folders have been created, have the output folder selection point to the VIDEO_TS folder in the MOVIE folder.

The path for output folder might look something like this:
c:\documents and settings\johnl123\desktop\MOVIE\VIDEO_TS

Now just press the PROCESS button on the bottom and wait until it's done. Once the process is complete, there should be a new set of video files that vobblanker created in the VIDEO_TS folder that's in the MOVIE folder on your desktop.

At this point run DVDshrink and open the files, click on the "open files" tab and browse to where the VIDEO_TS folder is that's in the MOVIE folder on your desktop and choose it. Shrink will import the files now correctly with no errors, at this point you can use shrink as you normally would to create a backup. Have shrink reauthor the DVD to backup just the main movie and 5.1 eng audio channel, have shrink create an ISO image and burn it to disk using DVD Decrypter.

Here's a giude on using shrink with DVD decrypter;

Okay, I have just finished the Voblanker part. I now have my movie encoding with DVD Shirnk. Nero is NOT enabled, and it is set to burn with the decrypter. Can I have more detailed instructions from here? I read through your link about bruning with the decrypter, byut not quite sure.... for instance, when do i put in my blank disc? What happens when shrink is done encoding, will the decrypter automatically pop up and I am ready to burn? This is a much longer process than when I used to just use Nero, so i am unfamiliar.

Thanks for all the help.

jcfbgo ,
Below is a guide on burning w/ DVDDecrypter. DVDFAB Decrypter is only a ripper.
DVDD will automatically popup when you start doing the iso image file. If there is no disc in the burner it will prompt you to put one in

jcfbgo,

Here's a flow chart to follow:

1) Run DVDFab decrypter, DVDFab decrypter will be used to rip video files from the DVD to your hard drive, DVDFab creates a VIDEO_TS folder with video files in it containing .bup, .ifo, and .vob files. Close/exit DVDFab.

2) Run Vobblanker.

3) Load the VIDEO_TS.IFO file created by DVDFab decrypter located in the VIDEO_TS folder as instructed above.

4) Choose an output location as instructed above.

5) Press the Proc.All button to the right of vobblanker's window to make sure all VTSs get processed.

6) Press the big PROCESS button on the bottom of the window and wait. When its done there should be a new set of files in the folder you created in step 4. Close/exit vobblanker.

7) Run DVDshrink and open the files in the folder you created containing the files produced by vobblanker as instructed above.

8) When the new files have been loaded, you can choose to reauthor the movie or do a whole movie backup, the choice is yours. Follow the guide for reauthoring if needed.

9) When you click on the backup tab in shrink, choose to save target as ISO image file and burn with DVD decrypter, for out out location choose your burner.

10) Make all your other choices for each tab then click ok to begin the process.

11) When DVD shrink is done, DVD decrypter will automatically pop up and ask for blank media. Insert the media and wait for it to be recognized.

12) Choose 4x for a write speed

13) Click on the hard drive to disk icon in DVD decrypter's window to start the burning process and wait.

When its done you should have a good backup of the movie.

Yea!!! It worked, thank you!!!!

One more thing. Now do I have to do this complete process for already copied DVD's that I want to make a duplicate of? Or can I just start with DVD Shrink and burn with Decrypter?

Also is this process necessary to burn all dvds, even ones with out the extra protection or can I just do as I said above for duplicated DVDs.

Thanks again!

To make copies of your copies, you don't need to use shrink or DVD decrypter because the copy protection has already been removed, just use a program like nero's DVD-Copy application. Sometimes if you use shrink or Decrypter for this process you may end up with CRC errors because of scratches or use of poor quality media.

You can use the process above to successfully backup any DVD that shrink or DVD decrypter can't by themselves or together. So when a DVD is being a pain when using shrink or DVD decrypter, you now know what to do to get that backup.

Note: The use of vobblanker may not always be necessary, sometimes DVDFab and shrink will be all you need.
