System locking on encoding with shrink

I have been using dvdshrink for years on both my computers. I built one and have a dell workstation. Now when I try to make copy a movie with shrink, the dell will lock up only in the encode phase...any clues what it happening? I have anydvd latest running in background but does not help. I have no problems with my other computer and no lock ups with shrink while encoding. I appears that it happens whether I use my dvdrom or dvr rw in the dell. I tried reinstalling my entire system and the same thing happened. Thanks for the help.

DVD shrink can be very CUP intensive while encoding, this means that processor is really getting a workout. The problem could be a heat related issue, open your case a check to make sure all fans are working properly, especially the CPU fan. Clean all visible dust and dust bunnies, you could also try and run shrink with the case open to further prove that it's a heat related problem. Worst case your power suppy may be failing under heavy load and may need to be replaced.

What does not make sense though is that dvdxcopy and clonedvd2 both encode without any problem on my dell??????

Have you tried disabling the preview screen during encoding? This might help, I have two Dell's and no problems on either.

That's because they're not as CPU intensive as shrink is. Just to make sure that there isn't anything wrong with shrink, you could try and uninstall it, run a registry cleaner like the very good free ccleaner found here;

Then reinstall shrink, you can get a fresh download of the software from here;
