Yea, are you guys following the tutorial in its entirety? or are you skipping ahead? b/c I always skip ahead when I read and it always screws things up for me... lol
Someone else said they were having trouble. I am going to look at my tutorial this weekend and update if it needs to be updated. You aren't the only folks that need help. Mine works great and yes, you compress with DAXZISO and put it on a compression rate of 1 (one). That's the ONLY way you're going to get this game down to 231MB. I'll PM the both of you guys to let you know when I've updated and made any corrections. There has to be something wrong with my tut if it hasn't worked for you. It's gonna suck going back through and doing this all again, but I'll do it to help you guys. ;)
EDIT: I don't know if you can compress ALL games w/ DAXZISO. I dont' think you can...

@ Ronbot3p0: Try staying in the same city for a little while b4 changing cities. I tried this as an experiement; If you stay in 1 place for a while, it gives the PSP time to load teh entire map and the lag goes away. It happens less and less. But, I have also found b/c of the lag every now and then, when it goes slow for a second, I find it's kind of like "Bullet time" from the Matrix, enabling you to do some really awesome maneuvers through traffic; manuevers you wouldn't have been able to do if you never got that 1 second of slow time. I kinda like it.

actually i dont want to remove any videos and audios so i directly compressed the 1.17 gb to 840 mb using yauvis and then used dax to make it to 540 mb.when i use the dax compressed gta i just get a blank screen after pressing x in dax 0.62. when i used yavis to remove some files eg other languages and startup movie .. i got the menu after pressing X in dax but when i press x on updater icon i get the blank screen
wat to do
and wat is PM??????????

PM is "Private Message". You probably have a list of PMs in your inbox. You can check your PMs here:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/private_inbox.cfm
However, that link you can find at the top of this page (or any page in these forums). Just look for "Private Messages", or hit "Ctrl + F" and type in Private Messages and you will see where it is. I can't remember, but I believe I sent you a link to something you'll need. :)
Not gonna say what it is tho. ha ha

I figured out why it hangs at the red loading bar.
It's because of the deletion of the cutscenes, and lack of an already created savegame file.
When the game does not detect a save game file, it goes through the first mission cutscene to help you get started, which is why it hangs.
To solve this, instead of deleting the cutscenes, as shown in the tutorial, you can just leave them there. This then makes it so you can play all the missions in the game, and not freeze up. The ISO is then only 280 MB still, so does fit on a 512MB stick.
I Hope that helps!
EDIT: BTW, does this method allow the wifi to work? Or should we use Devhook?

You're right, dude. It's not fun at all and I wish I could delete this thread. I was so excited that I could get GTA down to 231MB, that I just posted it. This tutorial has caused so many headaches for many ppl. It's my fault and I'm sorry. I'll talk to 0VVL about it later. I finally decompressed my GTA ISO and just run it in ".iso" format at 470(+/-)MB. It's been awhile since I was able to play this game smoothly, too! I forgot how great it is...

Absolutely. As I had said in another post somewhere, I only get to enjoy like one song I like and then my car catches on fire and I have to bail out. By the time I find another car, I try to find that station and the song is over. If I really wanna hear a good song, I have to pull over to the side of the road and wait. It's just not worth having music. Plus, you know me and how I like ambience. I just like the noises of the city and the comments the ppl and police make.
One cop by himself yelling, "FIRE!" Who the HELL is he talking to?! It's good for a laugh. In the GTA (Vice City stories), they outta have hot female cops. Then I wouldn't complain when I got busted.

Rip out all the missions, videos, and music and you can get a pretty small ISO. I wanna rip out all of that stuff and use the Rockstar Custom Tracks program so I can listen to my mp3s playing GTA.

@ Thirst: Meh... not that big a deal... Too much of a pain in the whack-a-wookie. But is there the possibility to have the mp3s streaming so teh music will play even when you're not in a vehicle? THAT would be tight!
