dvd shrink wont burn to disc

why am i getting this:
when dvd shrink is finished ripping a dvd to my computer instead of it asking me to insert a blank disc so it can write it to a disc? nero is doing the same thing...the options have changed on nero, the options i usually used to write a dvd to a disc arent there any more...why have the programs changed on my computer? i didnt think it was possible for a program to change on your computer unless you upgraded or something (which i havent changed anything about either program...so how have they changed on their own?)

When selecting your backup target, make sure you are choosing your burner and not Hard Disc Folder.

I haven't changed any options so I think its always been set to "hard disk folder", because the only other options I have besides that are "iso image file", and "iso image file and burn with DVD Decryptor TM" and I know its never been set to either of those because that adds .ISO to the end and i've always just burned the disc to a folder, and then using Nero to burn the contents of the folder (but the options on my Nero have changed too.) I just had my computer worked on (by best buy) and I'm wondering if they could have done anything to my programs? because i'm not doing anything differently and DVD Shrink has always written the files to my computer and then asked me to insert a disc to write to the disc, but now im not being asked to insert a disck, its telling me to use an appropriate dvd burning software, which wouldnt bug me but Nero has different options so i can't use that to burn the files

Maybe BB tinkered with something...double check in DVD Shrink's preferences that enable burning with Nero is checked, then you should have an option to choose your burner as a target.

i haven't found a way to fix it yet & its realllly starting to bug me...ive uninstalled DVD Shrink several times and even reverted back to an older version to see if it would ask for a disk and im getting the same message so i have *no* clue what do to next...hopefully someone can come up with a solution soon!

Why not create an ISO and burn with DVD Decrypter or Imgburn, they are both free and I've not heard of any issues with the autoburn with them. What version on Nero are y'all using?

it says Nero 6 ultra edition on list of programs under start, but the install file says Nero 6.3 and it says "nero smart start" on my desktop if that helps, the problem started on both programs at the same time and i changed nothing on either program

Okay!!!! I thought I was crazy. That same thing happened to me. I get that error message, and then when I go to burn the DVD using Decrypter, I get about 60% through the burn and it gives me another error message. I am doing this the exact same way I have done it for months, and now something has gone crazy. And my computer has never been to BB. Nor has anyone tinkered on it. I am sooooo frustrated. I've tried everything I can think of. I re-downloaded, too. Didn't make any difference. I shut down. I de-fraged. I cleared the cache. Nothing makes it burn like it used to.

Okay, I have the same problem. I've been burning for over a year without any problems. It worked a week ago. A few days a go I put in Munich. DVD Shrink tells me it's not responding. Ever since, it hasn't worked. Removed and re-installed Shrink. Nothing. I tinkered some more any finally got it read a disc and then it wouldn't burn to disc. In the past it used to make one .iso file and now it makes all the video and audio_TS files. I still can't burn those files. I haven't updated any programs, except AnyDVD (but that was after I started having trouble).
There may not be a fix yet, but I thought I add my experiences.

You are attempting to write too close to the edge of the disc, reduce your target size in DVD Shrink to 4300 to avoid the edge of the disc.

You are burning waaaay too fast, it is recommended to burn at only half the rated speed of the media.

This is Roxio's burn driver, it known to cause havoc with other burn apps...especially Nero. I would suggest removing it from your puter completely via this clean tool.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. I'll make the changes you suggest and see what happens. What I don't understand is how come, all of a sudden, this arrangement doesn't work? I've been burning DVDs for several months using my old method, and a couple of weeks ago it just started giving me issues. Did I inadvertantly change some configuration somewhere, or do something? Do I have gremlins in my computer? No one uses my computer but me.

Computers are just funny beasts, they do things when you don't want them to and don't do things when you want them to...go figure. As for the gremlin's, that isn't my cup o' tea...check with the virus and malware forum if you think you need help with something there.

I don't know where I got the firmware. All I did was download the software that came with the burner. Is there a problem with it? Should I reinstall the software?

hey loco, that version of Nero wouldnt allow automatic burns with Nero you manually had to direct them to it.When i changed back to 6.6.0.18 from version 6.6.0.14 everything was fine and shrink works fine

you may also want to consider upping your ram as you dont seem to have much, try getting 1024 as the minimum
