High School Musical doesn't come out until the 23rd, so most people don't have it yet. It may have the Macrovision RipGuard protection on it. I'm not sure. Disney has started using this protection on it's new releases. Narnia has RipGuard. DVDFab Decrypter should do the trick.

the movie is too big you have to record the movie alone. I did it with AnyDVD and shrink but had to cut all the extras out. Hope this helps

Will the free version of DvdFab work? I tried using it this morning but when used with DvdShrink, I can't get DvdShrink to decode the file. It just locks up. The same thing happened with DvdDecrypter and DvdShrink.

This is put out by Disney and more than likely has ripguard on it DVDFab Decrypter should be able to handle this, however you can also try ripping with DVD Decrypter in iso mode and then opening it with Shrink, this method sometimes works with ripguard.

another way that souetimes works is to just put the disc in youyr drive, have AnyDVD running.Explore the disc and just copy and paste the audio_ts /video_ts folder to your hard drive.Once there use recode or shrinks reauthor program with Nero to burn it back to disc

Try AnyDVD 5.9.6.1...............21 Day trial cost you nothing and will likely resolve this issue.:P

txlady65 there are some people that work in the movie places
like Movie Gallery, etc. and they get to bring movies home
for free to preview them on the weekend before release to the
public. They also get to bring home older movies as long as
they are not rented. I guess that is how they are doing that.

I figured, if it is Disney it has to be ripguard, they pretty much use it exclusively for their movies.

To everyone having these errors " AnyDVD is a must!" it takes care of all the tricky encyptions ........SONY and Disney are usually the tricky ones!! AnyDVD is updated regularly!! it is the only decrypter you will ever need!! SHRINK and AnyDVD = 100% success

Thanks RIDGER!!Ü

I still cannot get this to work. I have the latest version of AnyDVD and the latest version of DvdShrink. As soon as I attempt to reauthor the dvd using DvdShrink, I get the following error:

Failed to read file L:\
Cyclic Redundancy Check.

Any ideas?

If you are using the newest AnyDVD then use the built in ripper of the program and rip it to your HDD and then use Shrink. You can see there are many invalid structures and error zones. Right click on the redfox in the tray and rip it.

There are two versions of the movie on the DVD along with the bonus features, which is why it can't be compressed enough to fit on a single layer disc. If you use a still image for Title 19, which is the sing along version of the movie, you can still get the original version of the movie and everything else and still get pretty good compression.

ARNIEBEAR:

I did as you suggested but as soon as the second file is read, I get a Read Error message and they whole process becomes very, very slow until I just have to abort the process. This is really strange. This is the first dvd I have not been able to copy. I've never had any trouble with other Disnay titles. Maybe I'll have to pass on this one or try renting another copy of the movie and try again...
