i was on a site the sold Ritek Arita 8X 4.7GB Blank Media i heard this is a good brand almost like TY's but not as good i was woundering if i purchased the rite ritek media??? or is this another off brand of RiTeK taht is better???

hi,
actually Arita is one of a few of Ritek's "house brands" HOWEVER, lately, i've read that the Arita Riteks are having some issues regarding quality control, that is only what i read, i have not used any Arita Riteks recently so i don't know the validity of that statement... :)
i WILL say however, i have had a LOT of success with another of Ritek's "house brands"...the Ridata Riteks~ :) the ones i used are from about 2+ years ago, 500+ of the dreaded RitekG05s 8x DVD-R that SO MANY users are reporting issues with these days, i figure i got a "good batch" before the bad reports came a floodin' in regarding the quality of them...as with all media, individual user PREFERENCE/QUALITY will vary dramatically from batch to batch...
i also have a lot of success with Ridata Ritek DVD+R DLs (purchased over a year ago with the RitekD01 MID coding), i admit they aren't as good as the Verbatim DVD+R DLs (as in my sig), but a lot of the "bad reviews" you may have seen on newegg or other media comparison websites is based solely on "USER ERROR" or their lack of knowledge of how to burn them properly...people are often quick to judgement and BLAME the media when in actuality, they happen to use burners with less than sufficient firmware/media write strategy tables that can't support the newer media...some media is just NOT compatible with certain drives, and even a firmware update will only improve it's success so much...with the RitekD01s, i have found from my own experience that Benq drives i own (1640+1650) do NOT appreciate them, however, my Pioneer dvr-109, Sony dru-710a, and my other Liteon drives (SOHW-1633S + SOHW-1693S) have NO PROBLEMS burning them just fine. :) it's all relative to which drives + firmware you are using...
hope that explains it a little more in detail for you, i HOPE that your Arita Riteks will be consistent Ritek quality, please let me know once you get them and try them out, my statement in the beginning is only from WHAT I HAVE READ from others, i have no current Arita Ritek experience (the last Arita Riteks i have used were from 3+ years ago and were in the 4x rated speed, i bought only a very small quantity just to "test them out" for my own purposes) :)

Sony DVD plus/minus RW DL DRU720A Drive i own. Wy burner will burner anything for some odd reason like those Princo OfficeMax house brand they burned those just fine but come to find out that so many other people have has serious probs with them im sure they will be alrite isnt anymore DVDR media and cdR media just prefrence and what you burner will be most happy with

yup...based on USER EXPERIENCE, however, i would shy away from any Princo media...they have been MY WORST kind of burns over all my years of burning...personal preference, once again :)

could it be just were you ordered it from because that sounds really dumb that the manufactor would attentionly try to sell bad media that sounds horrible dude buys 500 arita's and gets only 10 good ones the others have scratches on then :-/ now that sounds like they shoudl stop doing that i hope its just the site he got em from if not im a very sad panda

be aware Arita is not a RITEK own brand
Arita buys RITEK "B" grade media which is only any good for data, not video
if you wish to buy RITEK which as you can see by my sig is what i use 95% of the time. buy there own branded media ie.
RITEK...RIDATA AND TRAXDATA
and you will be assured of top class "A" grade RITEK media

this has been also helpful its always nice to get more then one opionan on this matter but if im not using it for movies and ur rite i am using it for DATA actually backing up my XBOX collection so i dont get then scratched up i payed for everyone of them @ 50$$ a pop and i was told by someone that they work the best for XBOX backup plus they are printable i went and picked up a spindle ill let you know how they work also plz leave me fead back on the GRADE of that media for XBOX is it going to be koo or should i use them for 50 shiney coasters around the house

u never cease to amaze me w/ your Ritek knowledge, i guess i stand corrected, as i've READ in a few articles (biased depending on the source) that Arita IS one of Ritek's own "house brands" :)
i knew about the "quality" or lack thereof of the Arita's, but was always under the impression that they WERE Ritek's own, thanks for the clarification buddy~ :)
depending on where you live/ how Ritek "markets" their media, i have found a few articles where Ritek "claims" that Arita's are their own, guess i have been mislead as well~ :)

yes u r correct on that matter but really does http://meritline.com/ take care of there customers r not will i get my media and it look like the package from ACE VENTURA pet detecive or are they a good company when they ship o well my only question really is if i just bought 50 shiney coasters or r they gunna work for my xbox backing up project

meritline.com is a reputable company, if you don't like those Arita's you just bought and they do NOT work as well as you had expected, i believe meritline's return policy is 60 days for those particular Riteks :)
i have no idea on your xbox project as i never burned any console games before, i wouldn't have a clue in making them "work" :)

no prob corebus, meritline.com along with supermediastore.com and rima.com are ALL reputable online websites that specialize in cd/dvd media~ :) any of those 3 would be a good choice next time for your media needs...just gotta find "the best shipped price" as they have very similiar inventory and often times during sales, they will "beat each other's price" by a few dollars~ :)

i checked that link by paiger and i apparently was in the mix as well~ :) the sources i had listed back then was where i was under the impression that "Arita" were Ritek's own~ in European circles...
anyways, not gonna beat a dead horse here...i would NOT recommend the Aritas either way, even i have to draw a line in terms of Ritek media~ :)

sad panda so much bad stuff about em i just thought people had problem with burning em or sumtin i really dont care about the slef life or the life of em sinse i will avanchully tranfer em all onto Archival Golds when i have the money Jeez so pricey but if they do a good job then what the hell the Aritas are just for in the meen time would anyone recommend em on archival Golds or am i just wasting my money there

i just went to ther site i couple of minutes ago and im starting to get real scared on that i just purchased the best of the best 50 shiney coasters plz dear god tell me why these things r so bad and why they let people buy them it seems that these r the reject dvd Rs why its called a trash can DVD R Companies i can get you one of you want WTF!!!!! and ther calling em Premium Grade DVD-R if they as bad as u say then they shoudl come out and say it it shoudl be called if your broke and cant afford the Premium Grade brand

don't get us wrong when we say don't buy the cheap stuff, we are not talking about the price as such. expensive does'nt mean good
Verbatim and Ritek are about the same price. Taiyo Yuden are a tad dearer.
better to buy 50 good 20$/£ ones and no coasters, than 50 15$/£ ones and have 40 coasters. saves money in the end.
we can only give you facts from our OWN experience
i would use Ritek R03+R 8x or Verbatim +r 8x (not sure about the 16x times yet only tried a few )
as to the TY's haven't used any myself, but "kivory666" (DOC TY) is the man, and what he say's, goes for me

CoreBus,the Arita's I have are so defective there not even useable for data much less video.Buy the Verbatim when there on sale you will be much better off staying clear of Arita trust me on that.

ahh who cares if they suck ill just return them and let them know that they wer not usable and just pool my money together and get 20 archival gold inkjets i have plunty of money to getem. and if they work the best for me no more purple backs to many flaws with em i think the gold ones sound from all the resources i pulled from that this is the best way to go if you dont mind spending a couple extra $$$$ too many purple back DVD R Media floating around and it seems you have to do more research to find the best one ya i know verbs TY's are the best purple backs i think ill just go ahead and get sum arch. golds insted THX for all ur help
