Hmmm maxell at office depot...i wander if its the 8x or 16x...i stay away from the 16x...& now sometimes even the 8x (CMC-Mag)..i do all my shopping at supermedia now...that way i know i'm getting true RitekG05's ...they have a 3 dale on the full hub printable's right now.

Last time there was a sale on Sonys they only had the 16x...MIT.
Now this is a hard choice...more DLs, or 150 more Verbs...DAMMIT!!! I need more money =)

The last Sony's I bought were MIT. I was duped. It said Made in Japan
on label, but it had the round spacer.

I'd bite if those sony's were Yuden000-T03 in the japanese 16x with the octogon white foam spacer.I'm anxious to try some of those.
I got 500 Office Depot Ritek-P16's monday. I'm good to go for a little while, LOL

movies27- It seems that the OFFICEDEPOT Disc Maybe 8X or 16X depending on the store or location ! I bought 2 spindles and mine code out as Ritek P-16's 16X DVD+R's But for .20 cents each I'll give'em a try ! Good Luck & Happy Hunting movies27!

The key to these are MIJ and the spacer is white and octagon shaped (instead of gray round).

I will be interested to see what kind of results you get with the P-16's. I have burned a 50pc spindle (well, got 6 to go) on my BenQ 1650 with BCHC fw and have not been overly impressed. The best quality scan that I can get is about a 95 with 90 to 92 being more prevalent. Some of them were as bad as 79. Still played okay, but I won't be buying any more of the OD 16x DVD+R's personally. I liked the OD 8x DVD+r's that were the ritek R-03's. They were good.

9mmruger1: Yes,those OD ritek-R03's were sweet.
I haven't had much to burn in my 1650,just the 1 test burn-and a 95 score.. Hopefully a few more burns with solidburn and my scores will get above 97.
Now on my benq 1620,those Ritek-R03 have been scoring 97-98 from 8x to 12x burning. The 16x test scored around 92-94. I'll stick with 8x on them.
None on my 1640,but I expect 97+ on that drive.
My burning has been reduced because of end of may and all through june is my saugeye fishing prime time. I've got a 200 fish- in the boat goal,and 1/4 of the way there, LOL. After the 4th of july, I'll be burned out of fishing,and back to burning dvd's. I've got a fishing thread in safety valve if anyone has anything to add.
Those graduation videos will be hammering me after that.

The only ad I get early is on staple's website. When you go to staples.com/locate a store/ and click on advertised specials,they sometimes have current circular and upcoming circular.

Hi, just quickly registered after I bought the Maxell DVD+R media sale at OD.
If you're in CA, USA; some of the OD here still have the Maxell MIJ +r 8x available. Though they are getting hard to find. The spindles have a Made in Japan sticker, but presumably the packaging is starting to indicate Taiwan made. If my computer wasn't having problems, then I could provide some media codes but alas it's giving me fits. If they're not Japan made, I'm disappointed and feel that it is deceptive on the part of Maxell. For now, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
P.S. Just wanted to pass along the info since I've been reading this forum for a few months and have gotten very informative and useful tips for my own dvd recordings.
P.P.S The Maxell -r at OD (that I've seen) are all 16x, made in Taiwan.

My new-ish comp. was (strangely) refusing to load certain programs (i.e. dvd related), I was going to try to identify the codes on an older comp. while diagnosing the problem. I'll probably reinstall some stuff...anyway, good to know that the media is truly MIJ.

I was in my local Sam's club yesterday. They still have the 60-disk Verbatim +R DL bundle for $60.
Edit: It's a bundle of 3 10-disk cakeboxes or 30 disks total, not 60.
What was more interesting was that the 75-disk bundle (50 + 25) of Sony +R media was all labeled MIJ. It used to be that the 50-disk cakebox was MIJ and the 25-disk box was MIT. I had a gift card to burn so I bit. Both code out as TY02. I think the price was $25, so they're not dirt cheap but will do in a pinch.
