Try using DVDFab decrypter (its free and constantly updated to decrypt new types of copy protection), once it's done ripping the files to your HDD, you can use shrink to open them and process as you normally would.
Get it here;

Hi tommygjr
Shrink is pretty cpu intensive so make sure no multi tasking and shut down any unnecessary processes. Is your pc getting good airflow - fans clean? Maybe needs a dusting out.
Or it could be all the different ones you tried shrink can't handle alone. Is this a recent problem w/ Shrink?
A free app to use use is DVDFab Decrypter - rip to your hard drive then open those files in Shrink.

In waynekusa last link there's a guide on how to use vobblanker. Takes like 5 minutes and you can remove the warnings, FBI stuff etc. If the movie has 'junk' files it will also remove them.
Otherwise you should be able to just open those files ripped by DVDFab in Shrink and process as usual.

Yep no multi-tasking :)
Some other reasons for skips/playback problems are the media used/burn speed and your drives firmare may not be up to date.
So use good media like Verbatim or made in Japan Fuji, Sony or Maxell.
Try burning at ½ the drives supported speed as long as the media supports it (or lower).
Keep your drives firmware up to date. You can check at the manufacturer's website or here to see if any updates:

The free way to handle new copy protection involves more programs, but works.
1.Rip to HD using DVD Decrypter, or DVD Fab decrypter.
2.Process those riped files with VOB Blanker
3.Feed the processed files to DVD Shrink and run as normal.
VOB Blanker is easy to use, it just looks like it would be hard. All you have to do is supply input file location, output file name and location and hit the "process" tab. That is all you have to do for it to take care of bad cells, and all the other crap they throw at us.
Non free way:
AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. Those two programs are from slysoft, and they are excellent. http://www.slysoft.com
Using AnyDVD and CloneDVD2, i never ran into a movie they couldnt back up.

If you've processed your movie through DvdFab and VobBlanker successfully and Shrink is freezing up on you, there is something else going on.
Is Shrink freezing on every title you use it on? As binkie said, Shrink is very CPU intensive, so if it (your processor) is overheating it could be an issue. You could also have some bad RAM.
I don't think it's really necessary for you to buy DvdFab Platinum just to copy movies. The steps I outlined above have been 100% successful for me. If it has features you need or want, then by all means support DVDIdle and purchase their product.

Hi tommygjr..
I had almost the same problem about 12 months ago - every time i tried to do anything with DVDshrink or DVD Decrypter etc I just kept getting the big freeze - drove me nuts.
I fixed it by doing the simplest of things, which has already been suggested. Give your pc a good blow job! Especially the cooling fins. I got in with an air compressor and a vacuum cleaner (carefully mind) and blew and sucked every last bit of dust out of it. Everything ran spot on from that day - now if I ever get the freezes i'm straight on to the cleaning.
Give it a go it can't hurt.
