Got a little problem and i know you guys can help. I have been using Afterdawn for a few years now but this is my first post (never needed to before now).
Been using Shrink and DVD Decryter for a while now with no problems. Got a new Dell Computer installed DVD Shrink 3.2, DVD Decryter and Nero 6.6 on to the computer. When i try to back up a film Shrink reads it and after i press Back Up it freezes and then crashes with no error messages. Have uninstall and reinstall a few times now but still doesn't work. Anyone esle have this problem? Anyone know of any solutions?
Is Shrink crashing with every disk or has it just been a single disk you're having problems with? Which version of Nero? 6.6.1.4? Is DVD Shrink set up to burn with Nero? Does Shrink just hang and resist being killed with the Task Manager? Does Shrink crash whether you're doing a full disk backup or a Re-Author backup or is it just one or the other? Are you processing files from your hard disk drive or directly from your DVD drive?
Here's some things to try.
Disable burning with Nero in DVD Decrypter:
Edit menu>Preferences>File I/O>Burn Settings>uncheck Enable Burn with Nero
If you have any version other than Nero 6.6.0.18 installed, run the Nero General Clean Tool to remove that version of Nero and then download and install Nero 6.6.0.18.

What movie are you trying to backup. If it is a newer movie from Sony or some of the newer ones Shrink is unable to back it up as
Shrink is now out of date and can not be updated. I still use
Shrink for most movies, but it is unable to do the one's made by Sony and Disney due to the Arcoss, Ripguard, and puppet lock. Get DVDFabDecrypter and VobBlanker and use them. After you run them through them, then you can use Shrink. If you want to get one of the best programs out there try AnyDVD and Clone DVD they are free for a 21 day trial before you buy it. then run it through AnyDVD and use Clone DVD or use Shrink. Here is a couple sites for the programs mentioned. Check out the guides and Good Luck....
Ok,, I said this somewhere else in the forums as well, but I will put it here too... We put firewall in our mediacenter PC, Just love the fact that my DVD's fit on into the media center system.. lol.. but anyways, Nero 6.6.0.17 and DVD Shrink 3.2 do not get along.. If you have upgraded your Nero lately, due to lets say a DVD burner upgrade esp w/ the lightscriber system.. you may find you will have problems w/ DVD Shrink shutting down when you click on the backup button.. to fix this problem, goto your preferences, uncheck the burn w/ Nero, and at this point your will have to save it as files on your hard drive instead of doing the quick burn.. Once on your hard drive then open up Nero and burn DVD.. Or you can upgrade your Nero to the 6.6.1.4 ver don't know if this really works w/ shrink 3.2, (haven't tested it yet, but like I said my DVD's just goto into my Media Center system)
