DVD Shrink Not Responding

Can someone please help. I built a new computer, running Windows XP SP1, and I have DVD Shrink installed. I can read the disc just fine, but when I go to backup the disc, I get the hour glass and a few seconds later, Shrink dies. When looking at it in Task Manager I can see that Shrink is not responding when I try to backup my movie. My DVD burner is a LiteOn SHW 160P6S. Anyone have a clue as to what is happening? I can run DVD Decrypter just fine.

Since you just built the computer this problem can be a number of things. Here is a thread explaining what these are.

One of these is having the proper DirectX installed which is 9.0c, SP1 does not have this DirectX in it you really need to go to Windows Update and get it if you have not already.

Thanks for the response. I read the link and remembered Shrink worked before I had installed Nero 6. I uninstalled Nero and Shrink works just fine. I'll backed down to a lower version of Nero 6 and see if that happens again. I did install Direct X 9.0c, but it made no difference.

HI guys. I'm having a similar problem here. I just build a new pc. My hd has 2 partitions (80gb each) I installed xp-sp2 in one and Vista Beta in the other. I am 100% sure that the operative systems are not mixing. I installed DVD Shrink and Nero 6.0 in both os; the problem is that i CAN use DVD Shrink in vista but when i use xp sp2 it doesn't work, it doesn't respond and freezes my system. I uninstalled ans installed it several times (also Nero 6.0 Nero 7.0) it's not a hardware issue (Pentium D 2.66 2gb ddr2).

Nero 6.6.0.18 is the last stable version that seems to work well with Nero.

Run the Nero 6 Clean Tool first.
