can some one please help me out. I have a flashed xbox360 and the person that use to back up my games moved so i was trying to back them up myself with the tutorial that was showed here . Only problem is when i download XBOX360 SS Merger 1.5o it doesnt do anything on my computer, it tries to open it up with internet explorer. If some one can tell me what i am doing wrong i would appreciate it, also if i need extra software to run this program can someone tell me . thank you again

Hi jond1234. I had a similar problem myself. You need to make sure you have MICROSOFT .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0 installed on your pc. You can download it from the microsoft download website - I just typed in .net framework 2.0 and got it from there.
You can check what current .net framework you have at present by going into control panel and add or remove program.
Once i installed .net framework 2 ss merger worked fine.

thank you lofty, but im not sure i just downloaded MICROSOFT .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0, but the sdk, if this is not the right one, i dont know where to get the other one, also if this is the right software, how do i use it

i appreciate everyones's help, but for somereason i download it and i dont know how to use it or which one to use, there are different options like msl dissambler or clr debbugger, does anyone know what i am doing wrong

can someone please help mye . i have no idea what to do once i have installed MICROSOFT .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0. It just does nothing, do i need soemthing else with it.

Hi jond1234.
Once you download .net framwork 2 and it installes it doesnt particularly do much-you just need it installing to run ss merger.
Have you checked in control panel/ add or remove program to make sure .net framework 2 is installed?
If it is, ss merger should now run, or it did for me anyway.

Hi, I'm new here.
Just got an Xbox360 modded with the NME-360 v1.1 chip, and have Dead Rising: 1 kb .DVD file and a 7.39 GB .000 file.
Where do I go from there to burn this, from what I've read it looks as if I just burn with cloneCD, is this correct? ..if yes, with clone CD? shouldn't it be CloneDVD?

thanks to everyone and i got the programs working. The only problem is i want to back up actual games, not download them, so i realized i needed a different program, i used wxripper and then wx360, now that i have the file on my computer, how do i burn it on a blank dvd dl. Also is there a better progrma to use if i want to use actual games instead of downloading.

Tweeder, exactly what firmware upgrade has to be made to the 360 in order to do the rest of the steps properly?

Just a quick question...After I loaded the ISO into SS Merger and did the 10minute MD5 Calculation search, I Loaded the SS.bin and the MD5 readings were both green...so far so good...
But then when I hit the "Merge and Create Layer Break File" button it made the .DVD file no problem..but it only took a split seccond to make the .DVD file, when the Tutorial said it would take a long time..I just want to make sure this is normal before I start wasting DVD's.

Looking for some help, what am I missing?
Download a couple of games, for backups. Full Auto and Call of Duty. When I unrar them, Full auto only has 1 very large file "gmb_fau.iso" and Call of Duty only has 1 very large file "IMAGE.000". The description for both says that they have been prepatched, just unrar and burn with CloneCD. I do this, using CloneCD 5.2.6.1 on a Pioneer 111D, I've tried Memorex and just recently Verbatim. But when I try to play them, I get "disk not recogonized" error or "the disc is unreadable, 1.Clean the disc with a soft cloth 2.Restart the console for more help go to www.xbox.com/support"
It did say that they were prepatched but shouldn't there be the .dvd file? How would I get this or make this file? Try running them through the SS merger even though they are supposed to be prepatched?

mr bud you are suppose to change the book type settings of your burner using dvdinfo pro,you have to change it from whatever it is to -ROMand make sure you don't burn the image,burn the .dvd file or whatever it is{the small one}if it is not present then patch it again

I have the Pioneer 111D, doesn't let me change the book type settings, they are factory preset. That's the problem - there was no smaller file but it did say in the description that it was prepatched. So I'll have to repatch it to get the smaller .dvd file?

yes repatch it if you don't have the .dvd file the nfo for the release might be wrong,for changing booktype use dvdinfo pro and if you don't want to use dvdinfo pro,apply the latest xtreme firmware media check patch,it ignores the bookype of dvds

Okay, I have been doing the hotswapping technique and have a few ISO's on my computer, did the SS merger thing to create the .dvd file and then burnt it with various programs, CloneCD included...basically it doesn't work when I attempt to burn the disc whether it comes up with the white enter into a 360 message or simply saying the disc is unreadable. I am positive that all things I did before hand are fine is it possible that there is a problem with my LITE-ON SOHW-1693S? I have noticed the talk about book whatevers, so would the problem be that I will need a newer drive that supports that? If that's the case what would be a good suggestion.
Apologies if this post has been done, I read through about ten of the pages and found nothing on my problem. Also I hope it is not too off topic, I did use the tips in your tutorial however...

FYI: the nice thing about Pioneer's is that they auto bitset dual layer media. you don't need to do it and if you wanted to you can't ;)

Im hopign someone can help me. I made my first copy of an xbox360, everything went great, but now when i put in a disk the laser eye comes up to high and i can hearit rubbing against the disc, does anybody have any suggestions.i dont know what kind of dvd burner i have except that its a LG. I used the hot swap technique and i am hoping thatthe setting were changed to be used on a double layer disc, thats why it is having a problem reading the normal disk to start the hotswap program.

I repatched the game, got 2 green lights. Now it did patch really quickly, like seconds.
When I go an try to load the .dvd file with CloneCD, it gives me the following error:
"Error opening file LayerBreak = 1913760: The system cannot find the file specified"
Anyone know what this means? What I should do?
