Hello,

I'm having problems using the latest version DVD Shrink. This problem is a recent riddle. For some unknown reason, DVD Shrink retains the layer break pause even though I select its removal. This occurs when I backup straight copies (over 4.7 GB) or when I re-author DVDs. Furthermore, after ripping the DVD with DVD Decryptor and bringing the files over using DVD Shrink, Shrink won't split the VOB files into 1GB chunks; DVD Shrink keeps it all in one file. All required settings have been checked off in DVD Shrink and DVD Decryptor. I'm using Windows 2000 Professional operating system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
laddyboy

Are you sure you aren't dealing with the DVD in an ISO image file and not separate VOB files? If you're ripping with DVD Decrypter in ISO Read mode, DVD Shrink will import this ISO file. You won't ever see separate VOB files in Shrink if this is the case. If you have Shrink output a video folder to the hard drive, there will be VOB files contained therein in that case. There isn't any reason necessarily to deal with VOB files if your backing up a DVD. They are represented within the ISO image.

As to the layer break pause, that may be a function of your player and not the disk. In any event you can uninstall the programs and then reinstall and see if that clears up the problem. If you do a 1:1 copy from a dual layer to another dual layer, there has to be a layer break. Whether there is a pause depends more on your player's ability to read the layer break change. Titles are sometimes authore so that the break occurs at a scene change. How long are the pauses?

The layer break will sometimes remain, because, like ladyboy said, it's dependent on the player. On some backups I have, the layer break pause is absent but on others, it's still there.
