I have used DVD Shrink for a while and recently my computer crashed and so i lost everything. I opened DVD Shrink and it would back up my movie just fine but i didn't have a burning program installed yet. I installed Nero and now when I click backup in DVD Shrink the program just closes and won't do anything. I have tried multiple movies so I know it isn't my movie. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Download DVD Decrypter (from here: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/DVD_Decrypter/1011845169/1) and set that as the program to burn with! Hope that helps!

What version of DVD Shrink do you have? If it's not version 3.2.0.15, you should uninstall it and reinstall this version:

If the Nero you installed was version 7 it is not compatible with DVD Shrink. I do not have version 7 but then again I don't use Shrink to burn.

thanks so far everyone but nothing is working still. I don't understand why it worked up to this point and when i installed Nero again it wont work. It is version 6 or whatever and it worked before so I don't know what it's doing now. I did try to unistall and redownload shrink but it still did the same thing

Can you still burn with DVD Decrypter? Can you still burn using SE or Recode 2?

Yes and no. It is also located under the DVD Shrink help file!! It comes in handy when trying to isolate problems. I am still wondering if your Nero was installed properly. But I won't be able to figure that out until you tell me if you are able to burn.

I uninstalled Nero thinking that it wasnt installed right and now it wont install at all...i am getting so frustrated because the first time i did all of this it worked just fine.

You may need Nero's clean tool to completly remove Nero. Then you can reinstall.

Let try it this way and see if we can get you back up a running.
I want you to D/L This registry Cleaner:

http://www.registry-cleaner.net/.

This is a trial version and it will make a backup copy of your registry if there is a screwup.

You can also use this free one also but only clean out the registry unless you really know what you are doing. Only clean out the green ones.

1. Uninstall Shrink
2. Uninstall DVDDecrypter
3. Uninstall Nero
4. Use Nero Cleantools to clean out what is left
5. Reboot the computer
6. Use the registry cleaner and clean up the registry
7. After cleaning re-boot the computer
8. Clean the registry again
9. Install Shrink and DVDDecrypter
10. Try to do a movie and burn it w/ DVDDecrypter
11. If all goes well I want you to install this version of Nero and this is all. Go no higher as the higher version is buggy.

Nero version 6.6.0.18 updates:
Package 1

On the registry cleaner all you do is click on " Check Registry" and let it do its thing. Before that though click on " Backup Registry" and back the registry up to "My Documents". If there is a screw up you can restore the registry back to what it was

I've got the same problem. I have Nero 7, DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink 3.2.0.15 installed. All were working fine happily coexisting together, ripping, shrinking and burning until a couple of weeks ago. I have reinstalled Decrypter and Shrink but nothing seems to fix the problem. Shrink will rip and shrink but it won't shrink files ripped by Decrypter and that's the way I like to do it. What have I done? I have only installed updates from Microsoft for XP and probably very foolishly installed IE7 beta that's all!!! Enough to screw things up completely I suspect. Does anybody have any solutions?

sorry bout the registry cleaner confusion...i didnt see the link the first time i was gettin to frustrated and not payin good enough attention i guess. I i've never used decrypter in the past because i have AnyDVD, so i've used that with shrink and been fine. shrink will backup when Nero isn't installed still should i go ahead and try installing it again or figure out the decrypter thing?

What are you using to burn the DVD when Nero and DVDDerypter are not installed? AnyDVD is a very good program but should be cut off when you are using DVDDecrypter to burn. If you forget it really is no big deal but I am trying to figure out why you can not burn anything so we need to turn that off to see if the program is affecting you burn process. Also when you use AnyDVD are you using the ripping feature and ripping the DVD to HD first and then use Shrink second?

You could uninstall IE7 and then do a system restore to a point you knew the system worked properly

i just keep AnyDVD running in the background. before when everything worked i had that running in the background, used shrink to rip and Nero was working to burn. i am trying to use shrink and decrypter to burn right now so when it gets done ill let you know what happens but i still dont understand why Nero is messing things up

What version # of Nero are you using. Are you using the version I sugested as that is the last non-buggy version

that is the version i believe i have on my disk. i haven't downloaded the ones from the links you gave me because i was trying to see if decrypter worked first like you said. i know my disk just says version 6 though.
