nikkijaye,
Congrats. Now I want you to create a restore point on your computer. After creating the restore point re-boot and then install The Nero version I gave you in the threads above. Make sure after this that you have "enable burning w/ Nero" checked on Shrink. If you not want to install Nero that is OK also as DVDD is doing your movies for you

Under EDIT go to Preferences and then File I/O ( at the bottom Burn Settings) and make sure there is a checkmark next to " enable burning w/ Nero"
In Backup-
Under "Select Backup Target" there should be an option for your burner. Make sure that is showing instead of ISO Image File and burn w/ DVDDecrypter. Go to "Burn settings" next and make sure that speed is set to 4X and you should be good to go

Below is a free one as I thought the other one was still free
Registry Cleaner
http://www.toniarts.com/products.php?PHPSESSID=4fa6d7deaaf0c567b5...
Make sure the usb ports are operating properly. Go into Device Manager and see if there are any yellow flags. It has to be the computer is not seeing the usb external burner properly as it should pick up the external burner. Is the usb port on the MOBO or is it on a card

You can also try ccleaner it is free.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
Something in your registry is messed up, before you uninstalled it would have been better to do a system restore then to try and see if it worked. After you clean your reg out try the links that Car.Mike is giving your for Nero 6.6.0.18. Uninstall DVD Shrink/DVD Decrypter and then install Nero. After that install Shrink/Decrypter again, and see if it makes a difference. Make sure you reboot after you installs and uninstalls.

You need to go back and uninstall Nero and run the clean tools and the reg cleaner. It is showing two different versions of Nero.
Quote: Nero API version: 6.6.0.18
Using interface version: 6.3.1.4
Should look like this
Quote: Nero Version: 6.6.0.18
Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 18e
Your firmware on this burner is way to old, current is 3.07. Go here for update and flash your drive with current.
http://support.necam.com/Optical/downloads/FlashFirmware/
This is probably causing your burner to not recognize the media and giving you the illegal disk error.

Also You are burning a little too close to the rim:
1.Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
Last address to be written: 2286111 (508:01.36, 4465MB)
Set target to custom 4350
2. I would change the blank media you use to Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden
Is Your computer from a Box Store ( Dell,IBM etc) because like arniebear stated that firmware is way out of date and there is no firmware that starts w/ that except for the 3530 or the 3540

NEC did have original fw for ND 3520 at 1.04, mfr states you can flash to 3.07 from 1.04 so I take that to mean the original, but I could be wrong.
http://www.de.nec.de/softwareoverview2.php/id/1333
Edit: Also, you are burning too slow, this burner will do more than 2.4x, why not try it at least at 4x.
