DVD Shrink doesn't start

I recently reformatted, so I had to redownload DVD Shrink. When I try to run DVD Shrink, it just sits there taking up 99% of my CPU and I'm forced to close it through the task manager.

There was a thread I found saying that later versions of Nero might cause trouble with DVD Shrink, but I'm using 6.6.0.13 which should work.

I can decrypt just fine with either DVD Decrypter or DVDFab, though it does me little good if I can't make it fit onto a disc.

Is there a common solution I'm missing or is there another compressing program I can use?

You may use Nero Recode 2 to shrink the file. If you want to get DVD Shrink working again first try to un-install it and then re-install it.

You know I have always wondered why people re-format their machines. There are other ways to solve problems. By the way, there is an update for your 6.6.0.13. I will send you the site later.

Update your Nero to the stable version and probably best 6.6.0.18 here:

Try uninstalling Shrink and download a new one from here you may have had a bad download:

http://bbmayo.home.comcast.net/

Edit: You may also use Recode 2 (as syxguns stated above) included in the Nero Suite.6.6 which is a program written by the Shrink author. I use recode almost every time.

Sorry for the late reply.

Thanks for the link. I've upgraded Nero to 6.6.0.18 and it still doesn't start. Does Record 2 come with 6.6.0.18? Because I don't see it there.

On a separate note: my WinXP install was over two years old and I was really low on HD space. I just figured it was time to start over.

You have to have the Nero ultra suite 6.6. or 7.0 for Recode 2. You have to check the option in Shrink to automatically burn with Nero.

Open Shrink>Edit>Preferences>File I/O> check box enable burn with Nero>OK

I have 6.6.0.18 Ultra installed but Recode 2 isn't one of the programs it came with.

After some searching, I found that Nero has update packages that come with various programs, Recode 2 being the second one: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/nero-up.php

Now to see if Recode works. Thanks again.
