yes that matters, the only way to downgrade a psp w/ the IC1003 stamp is to replace the motherboard w/ one that doesn't have the IC1003. a so called hardware downgrade' then after the motherboard is switched u can downgrade.

Im confused, the GTA i have is exactly like the one in the picture. That's the patched version right? But it says in a thread in psp-hacks.com that if there is a 2.0 update when you put the umd in the psp, then it is an unpatched version. Which is it really?

@pspbaby
yeah if it says about a 2.00 update then yes it is a unpatched version, i think the picture is showing an unpatched version!
The following are for the EU/UK versions of the game:
GTA: LCS (Non-Patched 2.6 version):
ULES-00151#
GTA: LCS (Patched 2.6 Version):
ULES-00151#2
For the U.S version of the game:
GTA:LCS (Non-Patched Version):
ULUS 10041
check your UMD against those figures just to check, but think you are safe to downgrade.
what version is your psp?

Is the background black?
Anyway if you have a patched version the eloader wont show,so,there´s no risk in bricking(if you are trying to downgrade).

i see my code but i couldnt make out what it reads. because code is blocked by something. i could barely see what it read but i believe it reads..IC6001 OR ICB001 there s one thing i can be certain of is that the first digit does not look like an upside down 3 so i think im safe. also does psp-1007 work with the downgrade method?

If you read the guide at the beginning it tells you that the motherboard you have it capable of downgrading!

hmm i was thinking that if the firmware was 2.01.. technically it shouldn't be the TA-082 motherboard right?

That's right. ;)
Don't forget to use the easy 2.0/2.01 downgrader.

it says this in the guide!!
Codes:
No letter = 1.0 (Japanese Release) 1.5 (North-American release) confirmed
A = 1.5 confirmed
B = 1.51 confirmed
C = 1.52 confirmed
D = 1.52 confirmed
E = 1.52 confirmed
F = 2.0 confirmed
G = 2.01 confirmed
H = 2.50 confirmed
I = 2.60 confirmed
so any of these are able to be downgraded or dont need to be :)

at my workplace (myer) i THINK i recall seeing a box with 'F' on it.. so according to this table, is it pretty much guaranteed that it wont be a TA-082 motherboard?

sorry forgot to add:
it says in the guide tht if it has one of these motherboards it would be hackable:
1CB001
1C6001
1C9001
No Code
does tht mean tht even if u hav sth printed on the motherboard u still hav a chance to hack it if it's one of the 3 codes listed in tht list?? because i thought before that it literally has to have NOTHING printed on the motherboard for it to be hackable..
thanks =)

Yes,the un-hackable motherboard is IC1003 A.K.A ta-082.You have to make sure you dont have that mothereboard before you downgrade.

just a bit of a heads up. I checked at some other forums and the patched v of the GTA is on the back of the UMD. if it says
UPDL 0100501A 2 then it is patched. If it has 1 instead of 2 then it is unpatched. Im not sure if this is certain but I guess the only way is to test if it works with the downgrader.

sorry just another question..
i opened one of the boxes up at work today to hav a look.. on the box it says 'H' for the value pack.. i opened tht one up to hav a look inside the UMD drive to see if i could find a serial number.. and yes i could BUT it was on the left hand side and not the right as shown in the photo in the guide.. also, the numbers arent very clear and only half of the letters can be seen so i cant be sure which motherboard it is.. does this mean that it wont be the TA-082??
also, the basic pack (not value pack) has 'F' on it.. so does this mean tht the firmware on that is 2.0? is the letter coding the same as on the value pack or does it go by a different system?
thanks
PS: sorry about all the questions but im just really paranoid abt bricking my future PSP due to motherboard problems ><

If the number is on the left and kinda hidden, but there is nothing, absolutely nothing, on the right side, then it must be hackable, as for the firmware, i have no idea. But i do know that much.

im not sure, but the dominant answer in this case is no. If The IC1003 is present in any case, you cannot downgrade
