I posted a question regarding DVD Shrinks Fast analyze mode being limited to the first copy one makes. On occasion I run off multiple copies. Sometimes the first copy contains no errors but the second one may.

A response indicated clearing DVD Shrinks history file would allow a second copy to be fast scanned to catch errors. How does one clear the DVD Shrink history file?

Go into My Computer and the Documents and Settings file then All Users/Application Data/DVD Shrink. You will see the analysis files you can safely delete all but the 1kb file as this one is necessary to Shrink. Please don't multi-post, it is against forum rules, you can add your question in to your original thread.

Did you leave off a step? I did

Go into My Computer
and the Documents and Settings file
then All Users

there is no

Application Data/DVD Shrink. You will see the analysis files you can safely delete all but the 1kb file as this one is necessary to Shrink.

This is on a system running xp

Don't worry about it. If you delete it will just come back when you open Shrink. The license agreement screen will just come back up, and you agree and the 1kb file is back.

Thanks for the help. Showing all the hidden folders allowed me to access the Analysis Results history. You can safely delete all the contents and then all you need to do is keep on agreeing to the license agreement that will appear if you want to do a fast analysis mode on multiple copies of the same dvd.

I have found that that if a copy passes the fast analysis mode without detecting errors I can be fairly confident that the copy will not only play fine but that a copy of the copy will as well.

It is frustrating to make a copy then find after you no longer have access to the original that the copy has errors and you need to obtain the orignal again.

The other problem was making 3 copies for example and only scanning the first one and finding no errors and assuming the other two copies were fine when in reality a small percentage actually contain errors. I only use sony DVD-R media and only burn at a maximum 4x speed.

@vbro

If you do not delete the 1kb analysis file and leave it in the folder you will not have the license screen popping up at you.

Just a minor issue but the file you mention does not show up in the folder. That being the case all I need to do is spend a second or so agreeing to the license agreement before doing a fast scan on additional copies.

Bottom line is you answered my question and I can now easily check out duplicate copies. The only thing that threw me off was the hidden folder issue.

By the way - What is the benefit of hidden folders in the first place as the default as in the case of this Application Data folder?

Those are just analysis files and no longer needed. Nero Recode will also keep the analysis files in a hidden folder too. I don't like folders/files being hidden on my computer, I like to know what I am dealing with and when I need to find some file that a program has hidden.
