I have been backing up my dvd's for a while now, but am only able to play them on a certain DVD player. Is there some way that I can backup the dvd's so that they can play on any dvd player? Or should I try another program? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I had this same problem, The way I solved mine was... quit using TDK DVD-R's. They were the entire problem I was having, nothing to do with soft/hardware

I use some japaneese ones that I was told were good. I can't remember the name though. It just says no disc detected whenit loads. Any other thoughts??? I have Nero software, but don't use it cause deepburn is so easy....

Also the DVD's do play on the DVD player I bought in my room....it can play any type like divx's and whatever. What form do dvd's have t be in to play on ANY dvd player, say one that is a year old?

well if u r using good media(Made In Japan like u said) then maybe its the burning program u r using. if u have Nero then use that 2 burn and see if u have the same problem.
also try lowering burn speed?
might need a firmware update?

Let's get this right, the DVDs you're burning will only play on a certain DVD player. How many of the defective DVDs did you make? It's probably the program that you are using to burn the disc and yet you're NOT using one of the best to burn with. Nero! What are you shrinking the files with to fit on the 4.7GB disc before burning? The DVDs you burn need to play in a variety of machines. If you are using -Rs then they are pretty universal. The +Rs need to be book-typed to DVD-ROMs. Give us the Media brand you're using, and the speed also. You burner brand?

Well burned DVDs will play in almost every player made.

GENUINE Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R Silver Top Blank Media is the media I am using. I did however use +R DVD's as I didn't know what the difference was. I am burning with DeepBurn and DVD Shrink. The new Taiyo DVD's won't play on my other players either. I guess I should try out Nero. Will I need shrink also? Is it easy? Please HELP ME OUT...

This is the combo I use and all are FREEEEEEEEEEE

1. DVDFab decrypter(Free)

4.Burn with whatever program u want (free way, ImgBurn or DVD Decrypter)

You're using the best Media. Just set Shrink to burn automatically with Nero. To do that: Providing you don't have Nero6.6.1.4

Open Shrink>Edit Tab>Preferences>File I/O>Check Box Enable burning with Nero

i have a $175 emerson that won't play my TY's :o(

and a $30 Wally unit that will play anything short of
a cheese pizza. dunno

your player might not support -r disks did you say that your player will play the +r what you might do is google your model number of your dvd player and go to dvdhelp.com and do a search with your dvd model number and it will tell you what your player will or will not play good luck happy burning and have a nice day
