hi ther, any1 out ther know how to shrink movies after theyv been downloaded from net? my problem is when i burn them using my burner i need to do it in longplay, thus deterioratin the picture

Hi buckley14
What software are you using now? How big is your source file?
Your in the Shrink section but Shrink can't do most file formats from downloads.
'Shrinking' (compressing) can also take away from the quality.

well i,m using software called 'myDVDle' it came installed with my dell. if i,m ripping or burning a dvd i normally use decrypter but becaus its a file from the internet(shareaza) i cant do it dat way,the file size us normally aruond 700mb, which i dont understand cause when i open it up in my 'myDVDle'it opens up to like 7gigs or so an dats when i hav to put it into longplay. i have 4settings in my burner 1.high quality 2.standard play 3.longplay 4.extended play.i hope you can make sense of that, i'm a complete beginer!!!!

well for one thing this forum is for using shrink for the movies that we own, like the ones that we bought like at the store or on line,not the ones that you get on file sharing sites, they are kinda fronwened on here cuse it is kinda ilegal because of the copyright thing, if you know what i meen, another thing you never know what the quailty will be, the best thing is to just buy the movie that way you will know that you are geting a good copy to start off with, also most of the ones on those sites are allready ripped so all you have to do is convert it to dvd format and thain burn to disk, hope that helps good luck happy burning and have a nice day

ya well what your doin is equally as illegal! get down off your high horse and tell me youv never illegally downloaded a piece of music or recorded a movie off a tv. i spend plenty of money on the dvds i really love cause i like to hav the proper casing. now go away and mind your own business.

First of all a movie downloaded from the internet has to be converted into dvd compliant files. And what rdmercer1 was saying to you is that in the dvdshrink forum, as well as this site, we discuss backing up movies that we already own and not movies or music that have been downloaed from the internet.
