Hi all :)
I think we all agree that Mr. DVDShrink is putting a lot of work to provide us with his cool and free software.
So this poll is simply to get an idea of how many of us would be willing to make a donation via Paypal as a small token of our appreciation. ;)
1) Yes!! I'd be willing to donate $20 or more!!
2) Yes!! I'd be willing to donate between $15 and $19!
3) Yes!! I'd be willing to donate between $10 and $14!
4) Yes!! I'd be willing to donate between $5 and $9!
5) Nope.
Please start voting!! :D

1 for me!! :)
I trully believe Mr. DVDShrink's work is worth it, whether you use his software to backup DVDs or only as a simple way to re-author them. ;)

Hi Discmania :)
No, I'm not Mr. DVDShrink in disguise, lol.
I wish I had his programming talent though. ;)
I also feel the need to add that this poll was in no way "commandeered" by Mr. DVDShrink.

Everyone should try to donate $1 to programs like this. It enables the creator to be more creative and create better progrmas for us to create DVD's with.
How many creates did i get in there?? lol

5. Nope for me.
Doesn't do a good job like dvd2one. Tried it and the quality wasn't as good. I have a 65" hdtv and dvd2one looked like the original (5.5 gb to 4.3 gb) dvdshrink looked blotchy.

Just tried dvdshrink ver 2.3. At first I couldn't tell the difference between dvd2one and dvdshrink 2.3. But looking real close there is a very, very, slight difference (I have a 65" hdtv so it wouldn't be seen on a reg tv. I have a 35 inch and couln't tell a difference). Dvd2one is only a little better. Dvdshrink ver 2.3 is a real improvement from older versions. Dvdshrink is a lot slower then dvd2one though.
Dvd2one took 15min and dvdshrink took 35 min. The only thing I don't like about dvd2one is it won't shrink files after using TMPGEnc DVD Author but dvdshrink will. But dvd2one rep said they are working on fixing that problem. Here is the email from them.
Scott wrote:
> I created a dvd with TMPGEnc DVD Author (5.6 gb) and the files are not encrypted. When I try to shrink it to fit on a dvd it starts out fine then about 1/4 through it says files encrypted. Why?
Because TMPGEnc add padding blocks to the stream ... that's why.
> It works fine when I use Dvd decrypter right off the dvd without reauthoring. But when I use the TMPGEnc DVD Author program to edit the decrypted files it doesn\'t work then. Any reason why?
I will make a workaround for this in the next version, for the moment ask the maker of TMPGEnc to remove those unnecessary padding blocks.
Best regards,
Erwin van den Berg
dvdshrink showed a BIG improvement since earlier versions. Hopefully the will improve more in later versions, but until then I will continue to use dvd2one.

Thanks for the feedback, scottvf. :)
Can I invite you to play a game though?
Traffic, PAL, R2, movie-only.
DVD2One v1.1.3 vs DVD Shrink v2.2 (30%, no cropping. Better quality, 25%, was achievable with end-credits cropped).

The difference between the two backups is not as pronounced during normal viewing but is still very much noticeable (on my 17" EIZO LCD monitor at 1280x1024 anyway).
Guess which pics came from the DVD2One backup and which came from DVD Shrink. :)

Neither look all that great. A1 looks blurry while A2 looks sharper but blotcher. B1 looks sharper and blocher then B2. But still picture on a lcd monitor is different than a moving picture on a 65" hdtv screen.
Like I said in my previous post, I could hardly tell the difference between the two. But dvdshrink 2.3 had a slight more pixel distortion when you see a lighted area with movement. I did small soldiers and used the scene in chapter 2 when the person was riding a bike in the daytime. Beside that Both copies were I did were decent. dvd2one was just faster.

Thanks again for your feedback, scottvf. :)
I didn't bother to include captures from the original because to me they looked identical to A2 and B1. ;)
("Traffic" has a very grainy look to it)
