Hey, I have swap magic and the sensor blockers but one broke (the one that checks the cd cover) Anyway i got the bright idea to open up the ps2 and make the little button for the cd cover check stick. when I replaced the whole thing with the screws, the cd won't spin at all now, even with the cover down. Any Ideas?

You must've hit something, are you sure you didn't accidently knock one of the three sensors off while fixing the one?

well, I took all the sensors off now and even tried with a valid PS2 disc but it won't spin either.... I do remember accidently moving the thing for the lense, like the lense mechanism that makes the lense move.

Does everything else run fine ie: the browser startup sequence, recognition of memory cards?

yes the boot up works fine... there is however the sensor that detects if there is actually a cd in the system. could I have knocked something off on the board or misplaced something that would screw up the sensors. I followed the instructions on the net about taking the screws off, flipping the ps2 over and then taking off the casing starting from the left top corner.
Sorry for being such a newb.

Make sure all your cables are plugged in properly, there is one located under the laser reader itself.
Search google for the location of all of them.

yes everything is connected correctly. This really pisses me off when I can't figure something out, I don't really care about the PS2, I can just buy another one. But not figuring out this problem is what's bothering me the most.

Are the sensor switches still working properly, when you push them down to they come back up, and when you opened up the system, what did you do to stick the sensor down?

If you have broken one of the sensor switches, open up the console, and locate the two, and check to see if they are damaged.

Yes, there are two terminals in there, you can use foil to connect them together and put tape over it, or solder a single wire to connect the 2 together, and i tell you that it will work. I have made this repair for mates several of times.
