When I try to shrink a dvd onto my HDD with DVD Shrink, it gets half way through the encoding sequence then stops with the message "dvd shrink encountered an error and cannot continue, Out of memory, not enough storage space is available to process the command"
I think this is something to do with the buffer, as it goes way up.
I have found, being stuck, that I can save a dvd onto my HDD using DVD Decrypter (6GB for 2Hr dvd), then shrink it again onto my HDD using dvd shrink(3.4GB) then use Nero to burn same, but all this takes time (45min)
any ideas?

Not sure what ur questions is?
it usually takes that long, it depends on ur PC specs.
edit- maybe u wanna do this faster? well if u dont care about pitcure quality u can skip the Deep analysing on shrink
or
u can get AnyDVD and not rip t ur HDD, and u can get CloneDVD
u can try them for free for 21 days http://www.slysoft.com/en/

Just how much HDD space do you have?

Is this every movie you do, or just some? What movie are you trying to back up? Sometimes it is a protection error.

It's happened with a few dvds, mostly modern ones.

No your time is not too far off, but if you still have problems please use DVDFab Decrypter it can break the newer encrypted movies, which DVDD cannot do because of lack of updates, however you can also try the new program RipIt4Me which will integrate with DVDD and will do all the new protected movies.

First off please turn off your caps, it is against forum rules and is considered shouting. Now just what problems are you having and what programs are you using, need some more info.

@gabe01
You question is like: My car is making a funny noise, how much will it cost to fix? Inside man is not a tough one. Any DVD and Recode did that one. What programs are you using? What's going on? What kind of errors? Got a Nero log? We neeed info to help.

Thanks for the tip to burn to 4.35 Gb instead of default DVD size - fixed the problem. It was driving me silly - dvd-shrink would just crash - no error message or warning. Rip to hard drive with DVD-Fab first was a good tip as well.
