I was on the news letter page and saw whereyou could use fixvts,then use DVDShrink so I tried to repair "When a Stanger Calls" useing fixvts so I can shrink it DVDShrink (long live DVDshrink) I ran fixvts where does it put the new file? I checked the file that I used in fixvts it didn't change. I have never used fixvts before. If Janni would have told us where the file were put it would help. Thanks for the help. Tinner

I'm not looking at FixVTS at the moment but I pretty sure you tell the program where to place the new compliant files.

FixVTS will do the job in the same folder where your VOB files are! It does it's thing and your dvd structure is intact...... now try to use Shrink and see if it works.

Ididn' try shrink to shrink but I tired to play itand it was still messed up. Audio and video was bad. It is the movie When a Stranger Calls. I used DVDFab first and tried to shrink but shrink wouldn't do it. I tried fixVts but it was the same and the back up folder was there. I have trouble running pgcEdit can't make it past the 2nd step. Use FixVTS with Ripit4me and DVD Decrypoter. Ripit4me works as a command shell and runs all of the programs associated automatically. I got a copy of UltraViolet that way.

But you also have to have DVD Decrypter, it is the main element that deals with the "Protected Sectors List" that Ripit4me generates. Then, FixVTS removes the little tiny cells and references to non existing VOB files, and when it is through it automatically starts Shrink. At the end, you have a DVD with very few errors (But a couple of errors, that is the price for removing the protected sectors)

@tinner45

you wrote: "I used DVDFab first...". instead of fixvts, i suggest you use VOB blanker (see below for download and guides) on the dvd fab output file, THEN use shrink. VOB blanker is fully automated, unless you want to do some editing prior to sending the VOB blanker output file to shrink (where you can also delete things in "re-author" mode...). fixvts is a part of the software package that comprises ripit4me (see below), and in that context is automated and also does the job.
