Hi. I have been using DVD Shrink for the longest of times without any problems, but now with the new dvds that are out there for some reason i keep getting a reboundary error message. the only thing i can think of is that they putting a new type of encription on them which doenst allow me to rip it. How do i go about ripping the dvds now? im not that good at computers so i dont know what programs to use. can any of you guys help?
two possibilities (that i know of): 1. dirty/badly scratched disk. clean it and see what happens.
2. encryption that shrink cannot deal with. two freeware possibilities: A. dvdfabdecrypter -> VOB blanker -> shrink
B. ripit4me.
see below for downloads and guides.
pay option: AnyDVD. checkout the slysoft homepage or search for threads here... many people are very happy with AnyDVD.
2) VobBlanker - Not always needed, but it will get rid of any protection that DVDFD left behind. VobBlanker also allows you to blank, replace, cut and strip titles.
RipIt4Me. I do not know anything about ripit4me so I will leave you with the excellent guide by arniebear. You can also download RipIt4Me from the same link.
AnyDVD works in the background to automatically remove the copy protection of a DVD movie. All you have to do is start up AnyDVD and continue using your normal compression engine, whether it's shrink, recode or CloneDVD, It's that easy.
Before you pay for this excellent program you have a 21 day trial
2) Invest in good quality media Taiyo Yuden and Verbatims are best. Also look out for Maxell,Sony,Fuji, MIJ's (made in Japan) these are also extremely good blank media.
I'm telling ya, the staff here should put some disclaimer at the top of the Shrink forum (something that states that the program is like 2 years old and cannot deccrypt newer movies). It would save the posters a lot of time. It would save the older members lots of time. And it would make this place a whole heck of a lot more peaceful. :)
Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie
yep, that would be handy, especially if people saw it prominently titled, although the post above by pazzini sums it all up pretty well (i've seen that a few other members apparently have cut and paste full descriptions of the necessary software and options). still, it would be easier to just have a notice with all the info so these folks wouldn't have to wait for a member to show up and paste the answer into yet another thread about shrink not working on rv/inside man/ etc.
[edit] silly me, i just realized that given "human nature"... no matter how prominent the display there will still be SOME posters requesting help anyway... maybe most?
