DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
failed to read fild d:\ data error cyclic redundancy Data error

Possible causes
The disk is either badly scratched, diry/smudged in areas where info can't be read correctly, a bad press (digitally faulty), or copy protection shrink can't handle because of its discontinued support/advancement.

NOTE:There could also be a slight chance that your optical drive may be tiring, if it's happening with all attempted backups, a new drive maybe the solution.

If it appears dirty clean it and try again.
If it's badly scratched or if you have a possible bad press, you'll need to exchange it for another and try it again.

If it's copy protection that's causing shrink to spit out and error...then....

KEEPING IT FREE:
If chances are that it's copy protection shrink can't handle. To get around this, download a free ripper/decrypter called DVDFab decrypter and install it. Use DVDFab to rip the video files to your hard drive, then open the files using DVD Shrink (use the open files tab and browse to where the VIDEO_TS folder created by DVDFab is located and choose it) , process the files as usual using shrink.

get DVDFab decrypter here;

Here's a guide for ripping with DVDFab if needed;

$$$--for a small price
The other option is to download a free trial of AnyDVD (free for 21 days) and install the software, once installed you can simply use DVD Shrink as you normally would to create a backup. AnyDVD will run in the backround helping DVD Shrink crack the copy protection on the disk.

Check it out here;

Or you can also try free program RipIt4Me, it will do all the new encrypted movies. You can read about the program and guide here.
