Newbie here, Ive been reading a ton of posts before posting this.
I have ripped the "Movie only" portion of Sky High and when I go to burn it using Nero it is over slightly 4,868 to be exact and will not burn.

I usualy use DVD Shrink and remove unwanted files to decrease the file size suitable for burning.

When I try to open the ripped files in DVD Shrink to remove the unwanted files FAILED TO OPEN FILEVIDEO_TS.IFO" comes up.
How do I shrink the Movie to fit on a DVD, I see no option under Decrypter except for the Movie only selection, which I used.

Does DVD Decrypt allow you to remove subtitles and other languages (French/Spanish) to free up some space? If so , how do I do this?

Thanks in advance

Hi EFFEDUP
Did you open the files in 'reauthor' mode in shrink?
This one does have some of the newer stuff on it - I'm guessing you used Decrypter to rip.
So rip w/ dvdfab decrypter (free) then if you just want to do movie only use reauthor mode in Shrink. DVDFab rips the whole movie.

Yes I did use decrypter to rip because couldnt rip it in shrink, I tried opening up in shrink after the rip in reauthor and it doesnt show any files present!

I did do the movie only and it was still too large, I was hoping ther was a way to remove the 2.1 and 5.1 in (French/Spanish) this usualy frees up a ton of space.
Hey thanks for the quick reply, ive been at this 4 hours now

Ok - decrypter can't handle this one w/o help also since it's too is no longer updated.
DVDFab Decrypter is still updated to handle the new copy protections.
So just rip with that then open the files in Shrink as usually and you should be set.

Another option is RipIt4Me which also uses Shrink & Decrypter.

edit: Yep removing those audios does free up space - problem is neither prgram you used is updated anymore (shame really - love em myself)
So give the DVDFab or RipIt4Me a go and keep us posted!

Cool - now once it's ripped just open that video_ts folder DVDFab created in Shrink - either full back or reauthor for movie only - you're preference. Both as you know give you the option to remove the unwanted audios.

Oh and my goof - you're thread had you were ripping w/ decrypter. Sorry for the redundant question

This movie can be done :)
Now 4 hours - I have no patience - lol

Is that what Shrink is telling you now? Or is DVDFab giving you that time?

lol - gotcha
I've backed this one up + many others here so you should be good :)

Now for the ones with the 'newer' protection rip w/ DVDFab 1st. May have to run thru VobBlanker (free)then open those files in Shrink.
Here's a guide for that:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/334154

Then there's the RipIt4Me (link above).
These methods are all free & work great.

Not free (21 day trial though) but another great program is running AnyDVD in the background w/ Shrink. http://slysoft.com

Good to have an arsenal at your disposal imho :)

Now the suspense is killing me - how are you making out

Ok finished ripping now I am encoding and will try a burn in 11 minutes, im keeping my fingers crossed.
One problem doing the shrink from the hardrive is that you need an extra 4-5 gigs of space because its being placed on the hardrive twice

OK started the burn and got about 20 minutes before I can celebrate but so far so good.
Thank you so much for helping me.
One more question, Im using Nero and like it is there a better one out there? I want to know so when the demo is done if I should buy it

Yep any time your rip then use Shrink you'll need like 12 gigs free.
Enuf space to rip the movie then for Shrink to put the compressed file.

Hmmm Nero - sounds like your using 7 if you have a demo - has it's pluses and minuses. If just using like Recode, Express and Burning Rom for DVD's and CD's you should be okay.
Shrink will autoburn w/ Decrypter too.

Good to hear you made it further than b/4!!

Oh and no problemo on the help :)

Maybe - just a few ?'s for you.
What's the make and model of your burner?
Do you know if the firmware is up to date on it? (could open Nero infotool but since your burning now is not a good time)
Brand and rated speed of the media? Like Sony +R 8x.

Ok when the burn is done - post the log from Nero and we can take a peek and see what's up and get the info that can be helpful.
It will be the last one - they are usually separated by something like this: ====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======
Just be sure to edit out the serial # (even if it's a demo) - usually begin w/ 1A, 1C & 5C.

Will be located here for Nero 7: program files>nero>nero 7>core>nerohistory

If you are using Nero 6 by chance will be here: program files>ahead>nero>nerohistory.

I'm ready to call it a night but I will be back :)
Plus lots of good membere here to help out too. Post the log when you like and we can go from there.

Hey I knew you could do it - congrats!

To get the log you to your hard drive - usually c then follow the path (each are folders) program files>nero>nero 7>core>nerohistory (usually a text file) Make sense?
