I have never used them myself. I just know Costo carries them and they are CMC MAG (crap, sh_t, junk, etc). Plus they cost too much for what you get.

They work for some people. Someone who has never used them calls them junk. That means a recommendation based on neither experience nor technical specifications. Anyone else see a problem here?

I have used them and they are junk...TDK got out of the DVD business a while back anyway so what is available now is old stock that is being cleared out of the warehouses. I have a spindle with about 25 left sitting on my desk collecting dust.

I've used them, and they are Junk.
CMC MAG, save them for your priceless video memories..
Like the weekend in Vegas with the strippers. The disk will fade too fast to be used as evidence, he he he. What happened in Vegas, well stayed in Vegas.
'Nuff Said."
I've burned over a hundred when I first started out, I can now count the number of remaining CMC Mag disks I have left that can be read using Madonna's virginity. - ZERO!

it all depends on your DVD player they are a cheap brand but if your dvd player reads this cheap brand then why not??? i only used them once because it was 6.99 for 50 pk which i couldnt resist...i ususally only use Verbatim or TY...they worked so i was happy but on my friends dvd player and xbox they wont read...so it just depends really...be on the safe side and get some verbatim if your worries about it..

Many people seem to have problems with them. If they work for you then it's all good, and if you receive problems with TDK switch up the brand and give Verbatim or any other reputable brand a try. Persoanlly, I've used 100 TDKs of the 8X +R varitey and have had nothing but success.

One can only call a particular medium "junk" when one can define those parameters out of specification or the cosmetic or processing flaws that cause problems. (For example: substrate-push/pull, radial noise, radial run-out, WOSNRa; sputter mask defects; dye--reflectivity, I3/I14, ASYM; deposition layer--R14H, reflectivity; process--comets, splash, stain, etc.) Unless one can define which consistent flaws are the reason for poor quality, one CANNOT CALL ANYTHING JUNK simply because it does not work. That's like calling Pirelli tire "junk" because they don't fit your tractor.
So much name calling...so little science.

Some of the really old 4x stuff was okay, not great but okay. I think they coded as TTG or something like that. The new CMC stuff is pure crap. I have three different burners and not one of them like this media.

Quote: Unless one can define which consistent flaws are the reason for poor quality,
The cosistent flaw is printed right there on the label...if that isn't enough, it can be found via DVD Identifier, CD/DVD Speed, DVD Decrypter, Imgburn, Nero Infotool and the list goes on. That is all I need. I don't need science to do my testing for me, I'll make up my own mind and make recommendations based on my own experiences.

I can and I just did...This is the most rediculous statement I've ever read. TDK are the best media around, of coarse I can't use them but who am I, they don't work in my DVD player but they must be great because Joe says so and they are made in the same factory as Memorex and TY on the same machines with the same dye and proceedures...that is what I call JUNK.

I don't own a tractor, so I can't comment on that...but can attest the quality being poor on my wifes BMW, they just don't last long enough...too soft, for a female driver that doesnt tend to air out the engine that is. Maybe better suited for an aggresive male driver, but not on my wifes bimmer.
I've been reading your rants for a while and can't believe I've allowed myself to get caught up in this BS.

hi :)
the only science needed is
1. do they burn ok
2. do they play ok
3. do they play on all your friends players
4. do they play in 2 years time
5. most important do they copy in 2 years time
TDK and CMC don't meet any of these parameters
@ LOCOENG :)
your a soft touch that's why. LOL

TDK and CMC DO meet those standards on some but not all drives. In fact, the test parameters are often quite good. Simple logic then indicates that another factor is involved than quality, and this factor is most often compatibility.
Locoeng--"the most ridiculous statement"? "Rants"? Try this as an experiment: unplug your vacuum cleaner. It won't work. You just turned it into junk. Plug it in. You fixed it. Amazing!

Im sorry but the testing must be wrong, becuz Media that has a MID of CMC Mag is pure JUNK, and im sick and tired of reading that compatibility is the problem,(when not everybody is using the same Brand of Burner) when all u read in the POST UR BAD MEDIA EXPERIENCES forum are people having problems with CMC Mag and other low quality crap media(and again im gunna guess that not everybody is using the same burner), and by the way i guess u are right about the compatibility with those disks becuz most of the brands of burners(BenQ,Pioneer,Sony,Plextor,LiteOn, just to name a few) are incompatible.LOL
And another thing, this is going to be the last thing i write about CMC Mag is which i wrote already, just look and see the problem with almost all the burn error logs in the Nero forum, whats the number one reason for the failures, CRAP MEDIA=CMC Mag disk
Also i already know what u are gunna say, Compatiblity, Firmware,
Well ive seen tons of logs where the firmware was not up to date and using MID: CMC Mag disk, and gave them the firmware update and they updated the firmware and tryed again but to no suprise a burn error again, so they went and got better media and its like magic wow no more burn error.

Another nonsensical idiom....I'll try this as an experiment: Put blank TDK in my drive, burn it, take it out...it doens't work, put it back in and try again, fixed...I don't think so, still broken. Go buy some Verbatims, problem solved. They may work for some, but don't work for most. That is why I and many others here won't/don't recommend them, they recommend what has a higher degree of compatability. A new spindle of discs is alot easier to buy than a new drive that may or may not work with the media you tout. Get a life and stop spewing your tripe throughout this forum. Try helping instead of debating and putting down what the fine members of this forum have found out from first hand experience.

OK, help a new guy out! What is "CMC Mag"? Is that a brand of disc or what?
I just bought 2 Verbatim 100 Spindles after reading all of your glowing affirmations, so thanks for your help. Got them from Newegg for $29 and change. Was that a good deal? Like I said, I'm new....

Recommendations are a good thing. Attacks on other media (based merely on experience and no technical knowledge) and on posters is rude and unhelpful. Your malapropisms are a clue as to expertise.
