Hi rab48124
Check and make sure your drives are in DMA mode - look under 'current transfer mode' too - ultra dma mode should be listed there too.

dma guide

Do you have the quality enhancements or deep analysis checked? This will take longer and bump up the encoding time.

How long is it taking you? What are you pc specs like processor speed and memory.

Ok check the disc. If dirty, has scratches etc will take longer to rip.
Is this the only dvd that takes this long?

If you haven't very recently run a disc cleanup and do a system defrag.

disc is clean and I always do a defrag on Friday mornings. Do you think if I uninstall shrink and reinstall it that might help? Thanks for the help. Bob

It may - give it a shot.

Shrink is pretty cpu intensive so no multi tasking and close any programs you don't need.

You can also try unchecking this opinion in shrink. Go to edit>preferences. Uncheck (if checked) 'run analysis and back up in low priority mode to improve multi tasking'.
