Yes, it's a little bit hard navigating in the black screen though to get to USB connection. Once in a while, the screen lights up so i can see but if i press 1 button, it goes black screen again. Argh, even the hard resets render the psp black screen.

I think theres something wrong with your PSP. So do you get a black screen by just booting up your PSP? If it does and you have a warranty I recommend sending it to Sony to get it repaired (but they might upgrade it :( ).

Yea, it isn't bricked, I can still navigate but the screen is black. I'm going to see if I can upgrade to 2.71 and see if that helps.

It might be a problem with the screen. You could buy a replacement screen and that might fix it.

But the thing is he can still hear the sounds. If it was bricked he wouldnt here the sounds! I think its a hardware problem.

Well the instant i push any button, the screen goes to black; I'm thinking now it is in fact a hardware problem and I'll see if I can get it exchanged for. However, I still haven't updated it back to the 2.71 yet.

If you still have the warranty it might be better to send it to Sony for repairs. Also if you do decide to send it to Sony, write on a piece of paper "Do not upgrade firmware" and send it with the PSP (apparently someone did that and Sony didn't upgrade their PSP).

Now, I'm not so convinced it's the hardware problem. When I used the 2.71 updater and waited for the black screen to show image, it wouldn't show image, however when im not in the updater, it will show the image after waiting.

Yeah like I said, if its a hardware problem then send it to Sony. You still have the warranty for it right?
EDIT: Wait, I just read your post again. Hmmm then I dont think its a hardware problem either.

Wow, get this you guys. So I'm about to give up and I take off the USB attachments and charger. Suddenly, when I remove the charger, the screen flickers to life and it works now. I'm in the process of updating to 2.71.

Wow. Yeah then it must be a hardware problem not software related.

ok so i have 0.4x launcher for 2.71 can I install usbhostfs on this? Can I use this to emulate 1.5? Or do I need to install chuglam's version in order to use usbhostfs? Let me know if I can install it, without it. Also as far as moving files to my PSP do I need to do 2 files at a time still? Is it files or directories?

You have to use chunglams launcher to use usbhostfs. Yeah DevHook 0.4X will emulate firmware 1.5. And no you don't have to move the folders two at a time.

some iso from torrents comes with those dir and even devhook installers.
you dont have to use them. just follow the guide on this thread and use 3.01 + devhook .51 and then create an iso folder in your ms root. place all iso there and thats it.

Okay, I'm using the easy installer now and everything is going fine until I start Devhook to emulate the 3.02 version. Then, my psp just turns off when it says it's starting. Any solutions would be appreciated.

The Isos should be in a bunch of .rXX folders or just in its plain iso form itself.

depends on the file you download. some games you download may already be in iso form otherwise for example these files might be what you have downloaded
example game 1.r00
example game 1.r01
example game 1.r02
etc etc
when you see files like that just use WinRAR to extract it and you should have an iso then
