Hi,
I have an TA-082 board and loaded the "easy Downgrader". I first loaded the battery to 100% and then runned the Downgrader. After the downgrad there was no error and I pressed X to reboot. After that the screen went black and it doesnt boot anything anymore. It is now bricked? :( What can I do?

I have just bought a TA-082 with 2.71 firmware. Ive downloaded games whats the safest way to play them.
Do i need to down grade to 1.5 or can i use an emmulator straight from 2.71, what do i do?
I have done a lot of reasearch but this has confused me even more.
Im a real novice (as if you hadn't guessed) so if any one can post me some links of what all the terms mean and how to get back to basics i'd be really greatful.
I started reading the tread back in september (read the first 15 pages)and felt confident i could have a go without bricking, but reading the last couple of pages it seams like people are bricking theirs, help.
Sorry if im running over old ground, i bet this path has worn bare now.
Thanx in advance

You never know with downgraders. If you brick your PSP by trying a downgrader you'll regret it. But think about it, you just want to downgrade to use custom firmware right? Custom firmware allows you to load ISOs/homebrew without having to run HEND, then Devhook etc. And it also allows you to load PSX games. But think about it, when you try the downgrader, you take the chance of losing $200+. When you can just use Devhook to load 1.5 so you can load homebrew or you can use Devhook to load the latest firmware and play ISOs. And besides, computers have PS1 emulators. Do you really need to play them on your PSP? You're taking the chance of losing $200+ just to not wait for Devhook to load, and to play PS1 games. Just think about this before you try a downgrader. It's no problem for me since my brother has a PS3 and is going to get a wireless router soon. I can just emulate 3.02 or 3.03 and do remote play and access the Playstation store and pay $3.00 for a PS1 game.
My PSP Firmware History: 2.60 had to return the PSP because it had a dead pixel > new PSP had firmware 2.71 > 1.5 > 3.52 M33 > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.71 M33 > 3.71 M33 with 1.50 kernel

Your missing the run idstoragechange part in your 1.5 downgrade tutorial.
If you don't run idstoragechange you will brick your psp.

If you just downgrade from 2.71 to 1.5 you don't have the recovery menu.. the recovery comes with the 3.0X oe.. I'm not an expert but I think your PSP is definitely brick. Sorry

Sulf,
I got the same problem. I used the easy downgrader and got my psp bricked. The only difference on this brick is that the green light stays on and the psp doesn't shut off. Are you getting the same problem?

Kealvalro,
Yes, my psp came in as 2.71 ta-082. I was using devhook .51 with hend emulating to 3.02 working fine. However, that method get freeze and shut down all the time so I decided to downgrade it to 1.5. During that downgrade it bricked. I have a 2gb Lexar pro duo and formated by psp. I extracted the easy downgrader file to windows and copy it over to the memory stick. Was that the reason why? The power supply was plugged in at all times. I don't know how come it got bricked. I'm afraid if I get another psp and use it again I'll get brick again. Please advise. Thanks.

If people get a brick trying the downgrader, it doesn't make it the downgraders fault. Every downgrader isn't 100% brick proof. When you change the thing in the NANDFlash (something like that) which is what downgraders do, you take the risk of bricking your PSP. If you brick your PSP trying an official Sony update you send it to Sony and they have a utility that reflashes the PSP, well, it justs un-bricks the PSP. I won't try a downgrader until I have a utility that does what the Sony utility does. Hopefully a utility like that will be available in a store. Or a program that unbricks PSPs.

You missed the run idstoragechange step in your tutorial!
Thats why ppl are bricking their psps...
You will brick if you forget to run the idstoragechange!

I think Athrum_C is correct on missing the running idstorage step. I recall the easy downgrader instruction did not have that step. I got another PSP from Target today (2.71 TA-082) and included the idstorage step and sucessfully downgraded the psp to 1.5. That missing step was the cause of the brick. I sent my orginally one back to SONY hoping that I'll get the credit (reward points) back because I used a SONY credit card and got the PSP with the reward points. I can send the Target receipt back to SONY reward and get reimbursed with the money and get the points deducted again.
Anyway, my next step is to upgrade it to 3.03 oe-b or oe-c. Where is the guide for that?
