on my computer, i backup a copy with my sony DVD+R and then try the same movie with a dynex DVD+R and the sony burns at 8X and the dynex only at 2.4X.

yes, both dvd+r's are 16X, and the same dynex dvd will burn at 8X on my room mate burner with no problems. any reason why you would think just on my computer it will burn at 2.4X on the dynex, but 8X on my sonys?

Is ur firmware up to date?

U can check with DVD Decrypter

Also i think that the Dynex media is not good at all

yeah i know its not that good, which is why i buy sonys but i have some left over dynex's.

anyway, i use Nero to burn in the background while using shrink.
i dont see why my sonys will burn at 8X and then the dynex at 2.4X on the same computer....while on my friends they both burn at 8X on both medias.

Again is ur firmware up to date? that could be why it only burns that slow.
Use Nero Info Tool to find your firmware then check here to see if there is an update
