i checked the branding guide and it said that my dvds were second rate and should work. before i had some 8x maxell DVD+R that i burned at 4x and they worked no problem but i ran out of those, so i got some 16x do i have to change the speed for these dvds

Really? Cant be that good if the original poster has burnt FFXII twice & still hasn't got a working burn!
I've burnt over 2000 games onto RITEK G05 8x DVD-R and haven't had a non-working game yet. Including FFXII.

In summary; Maxell are crap!

i burned all my games on 8x maxell DVD+R and they all work fine but i ran out of those, i have read that you have to burn at half the max speed of the dvd because i just got some maxell 16x DVD+R do i burn those at 8x

yes stykerx burn at 8x, if it is a 16x disc, also can your burner bookype if so then try booktyping the DVD+R to dvd-rom as this is more compatible with ps2's, also when burning, switch off any appz running in the background and unplug the internet to save ram, and yes maxell are great but you should look into buying some DVD-R if your burner cant booktype.
@ace1uk- maxell are NOT crap, just because riteks work finr for you doesnt mean every other goddamn disk in the whole world is crap. (ritek is only 2nd class media by the way) this is not the first time youve said this, on every other thread if the person asking for help cant get his backups to load and theyre using summat like verbs/ty youll say theyre crap. and when you said that its crap because it hasnt worked twice, well there are loads of other things that can go wrong, speak the facts and stop adding anything that is in your pockets

As far as the hard drive booting is concerned you must apply a ppf patch for it onto the iso, then burn it and load it to the hard drive. Just do a google search for the ppf.

I do speak the facts mub6, every answer I give is based on fact from personal experience of burning over 2000 PS2 games over the last 4-5 years. I've tried lots of different media. And I've never once said Verbatim are crap btw, cos they're not.
I don't just burn games for myself, I often burn games for my mates, and they all work on their PS2s as well - on RITEK. Other brands just don't come up to par, including Princo, Maxell, Imation, TY, DataWrite & many more.
Once you have the same level of experience with burning games & used lots of different brands as I have, then you can comment on my advice.
Until then, ever heard the saying; "Don't teach your Grandma to suck eggs"?

Anyone tried uploading it patched with WINHIIP? Game runs fine with HDloader exploit but laggy at start screen. Other than that smooth gameplay. If anyone needs help on how to upload the game or exploit, feel free to ask.

there's a cheat code out that fixes the glitchy video bug, you hit R3 when the movie starts and L3 when it ends to make sure the game won't lock up.

ok im way too lazy to read other ppls replys so sorry if it been said. usually its bad media. i got that file too and used "RiDisc" media and i basically worked perfect cut scenes are a bit dodgey though. so if you can get you hands on verbatim or ridisc's you should be sorted. i know your pain i spent the day in town tryin to get good discs cause mine ran out but every thing was closed cause its sunday. (i know thats totally off the point)
