Hello, I am a long time browser here, and am for the first time coming unravelled with problems this evening. I've been using DVD Shrink for more than a year with very few problems, until now.

I just bought Lost season 2, and discovered shrink couldn't handle it alone. So I added AnyDVD, swish...backed those up just fine. So I decided to buy AnyDVD...either in the process of updating AnyDVD, or using my activation code for it...something has screwed up DVD Shrink. I just used shrink last night with "Notorious Bettie Page" so up until today, before the update of AnyDVD everything was smooth as silk.

Now I get the following error with shrink:

DVD shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.

Failed to read file E:\"

Incorrect Function

It happens after encoding, up until about the 9 minutes remaining mark. bang, error comes and it's done.

I've tried several of my discs that I've backed up before...shrink is broke...and I am really bummed out:(

I tried a restore point with the PC, tried uninstalling both shrink and AnyDVD...even with AnyDVD uninstalled, shrink no longer works on any disc.

Is it possible that in my uninstall of AnyDVD that there is still something in my registry that is corrupting everything?

How do I get shrink and AnyDVD off my pc, completely? As if they were never on the machine? I don't know anything about registry stuff, so I don't want to muck up anything else...

sorry 'bout the long post...hope someone can help me.

well, after re-installing AnyDVD again, I did finally get a disc to back-up with shrink...not with AnyDVD running in the background however. I'll try that tomorrow I guess. If anyone has any idea's on why this all happened I'd appreciate a response...right now I'm feeling like I pissed away 39 bucks on AnyDVD for nothing. I also tried to rip with AnyDVD...just bypassing shrink...but that failed as well...stopped dead at 72%. the trial version was working perfectly. Doesn't make sense.

you can use CCleaner and EasyCleaner to clean your registry, there BOTH free programs

http://100-downloads.com/

as far as your compatibly issue what other burning programs do you have on your machine?

a few that conflit is DVD43, Roxio drag to disc or Nero INCD

so i would uninstall both programs run CCleaner and EasyCleaner do a disc cleanup and defrag your machine reboot and reinstall both programs.

anydvd is a great program so you def. didn't waste your money and it works fine with DVD Shrink . however some of the newer movies DVD Shrink will have some problems with (ARccOS and or Ripguard) even with AnyDVD running behind DVD Shrink thats where i recommend using CloneDVD 2 along with AnyDVD .this is your best combo

I failed to rip a movie when using AnyDVD v6.0.7.0 receiving similar errors. I went back to v6.0.5.0 and everything was back to normal. I have not tried v6.0.8.0 to see if the same problem occurs.

Firstly, thanks for the replies. I wanted to report that I finally got shrink to work with AnyDVD, although it is v6.0.7.0, and not the latest. I don't know why the troubles occurred with the newest version, but I'm sticking with what I've got until I run across a disc 6.0.7.0 can't handle. Thanks again for the assistance.
