Ripit4me & FixVts will sort this one out. I think it has similar protection to "RV" which seemed to cause problems when trying to rip with DvdFabDecrypter even after running thru VobBlanker. DvdDecrypter needed to insert dummy sectors in 7 different places over 3 different files! Also many blank & unref cells. Nothing new - just more of it!

I had no problem using DVDFab Decrypter on RV...I'm sure DVDFab would breeze through the Da Vinci Code as well, especially if backing up main movie only.

I was doing a full disc backup of RV & it appeared to backup OK. Ran it thru VobBlanker then shrink but chapters were all screwed up - started on chapter 16 & 1-15 were blank!! Used Ripit4me & FixVts then shrink & burn - now have complete disc with all menus & extras including DTS sound! This was the first movie that DvdFabDecrypter would not handle. I was using the lastest update at the time, but maybe updated again since? My version is 3.0.2.0

This is how I ripped DaVinci code and freedomland
I used ripit4me which opened up decrypter. Then I ran the ppl in ripit4me,it then opened up the hidden part of the movie and entered them into decrypter. once decrypter was finished I opened the movie in DVD Shrink, reauthoured for just the movie only. this of course made an iso of the movie. I then burnt the movie with decrypter. Long winded I know but it worked perfectly. as an aside, contrary to what one forum member said the DaVinci code is on general DVD release in this part of the world. It was realesed here in the Republic of Ireland on October 16th.

Beer, the cause of and soloution to all lifes problems,I just cant get enough of that wonderful DUFF

Although ripit4me has been recommended to me, I have'nt had cause to use it yet. As I said DVDFab and DVDShrink are still both working perfectly for me and if it ain't broke, why try and fix it.

I know that this may not seem like much help but to ensure a smooth process, I always make sure my computer is well defragged/optimised.
Always shut down any programs running in the utility tray. I have Norton Internet security and anti-virus which are known to interefere with the general running of other programs. I just disable them and then re-enable after.

Don't multi-task. Start DVDFab or whatever, then walk away. When thats done, start Shrink and walk away. It tells you how long its roughly going to take. Check back from time to time and in my case, I use Nero and when Shrink has finished a window opens asking for a blank disc.

Another thing that I do is that after DVDFab has finished, I remove the original disc and leave the tray open - my tower is floor standing - this allows plenty of cool air to get into your comp. The burning process generates a lot of heat.

Always use good media, I now use only Ty or Verbs.

Reading back through these posts, I see that there have been various ways of doing this one (which, by the way, was also on general release in the UK 16th October, region 2)

Following all the messing about that I had with "When a Stranger" and one or two others, I still maintain it had something to do with DVDFab, I reverted to v2.9.8.3 and it sailed through.

Like I said, not trying to teach my granny to suck eggs, but follow the simple and the obvious and above all else, keep reading this excellent forum and somebody will eventually point you in the right direction.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Mr_Pink says "Even though I have AnyDVD, I know that when these two or three day old movies come out, running it through DVDFab and then Shrink always works"
--------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm inclined to agree.

Although DVDFab and DVDShrink are working for me, I'm gonna try your way's on my next project.

There seem to be a lot of good reports on it.

I have always come to these pages when I have had a problem. I live in the UK also and wanted to backup my copy of the Da Vinci Code. I usually use DVD Decrypter.....then DVD2One and burn with Nero. I thought there must be something wrong with the DVD at first as it would not copy. I came to these pages (as I often do when i have a problem" to see if anybody else was experiencing the same problem. Low and behold the sneaky buggers at Sony seem to be screwing with us.
Anyway, after reading the advice given here, I was able to copy ALL the files using AnyDVD. I was then able to use DVD2One to shrink it to one disk and then burn with Nero.
I would like to thank these pages and all the contributors over the last couple of years for all the help I have received.
Cheers everyone
Chris

I agree with everyone - this is a good place to learn before you burn ! I just wish I would have found out about it (AFTERDAWN.COM) sonner than I did would have saved me time , money & aggravation! & I would have bought less crap media than I did at first like none ! We learn by our mistakes though ! & with all my afterdawner friends I've laerned to not make the same mistakes twice LOL! )TRUE) I think That AnyDVD will probably handle The Da Vinci Code No sweat ! Because I like the EASY way and the $34 for AnyDVD was the price of two movies. A real bargain!

Don't really know why some people are having issue ripping and backing up this (DA VINCI CODE). I've tested 2 methods and so far both worked flawlessly.

* DVDFAB Decrypter 3.0.3.8 (Beta) ripped flawlessly within 15 minutes.
* RipIt4Me 1.5.6.0 ripped smoothly within 29 minutes including RipIt4Me, DVD Decrypter and processing via FixVTS.

I did 2 backups, (DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker) I transcoded with Nero Recode via "AA + HQSR + Assign Best Quality to Main Movie." The other one (RipIt4Me), I encoded with DVD-RB Pro + CCE SP 2.70 using 3 PASSES. Both backups came out perfect, tested, played and there's no glitches what-so-ever.

Yep, I'm sucha VobBlanker-holic, lol. My kind of modification "full disc mode = Main Movie + Menu" and no junkies (i.e. FBI Warnings, useless Logos, Advertise, Trailers, Features/Extras, etc.)

Regards.

Ripped it with AnyDVD , ran it through VobBlanker ,Shrunk it and burned it ?no problems.

I have to say I?ve become a VobBlanker-Holic too.
What a great little program !
I use to run into backup problems that Shrink couldn?t handle, but now, hardly ever.

VobBlanker even fixed that Nero Burning error that I and some other people here are having?.and allowed me to burn without errors.
Wow?very cool program.
